You know, I called on the president to invoke the 14th Amendment and mint a coin and do not negotiate with hostage takers,\u201d Bowman told CNN. \u201cI mean, we don\u2019t negotiate with terrorists globally. McCarthy was somewhat optimistic on Friday morning, though he noted more work still needs to be done for an agreement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/05\/26\/debt-ceiling-deal-developments.html\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought we made progress last night. We\u2019ve got to make more progress now,\u201d McCarthy said.<\/p>\n<p>Under the current negotiated framework, Republicans are set to win on two of the core components of their debt ceiling bill that the House passed last month. The White House has reportedly made concessions on reducing 2024 spending and cutting back on the roughly $80 billion in new funding allocated to the IRS in the Inflation Reduction Act, according to CNBC.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has faced pressure from his left flank from lawmakers such as Bowman and others to stop negotiating with McCarthy. Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Progressive Caucus, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/poll-most-americans-want-spending-cuts-included-in-debt-ceiling-deal\">warned<\/a> Biden against negotiating a \u201cbad deal\u201d earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1685202016677000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3BHv9qMQC3OwHMBCkGZXpF\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president \u2014 I\u2019m sure he\u2019s thinking about the fact that it was a very vibrant, diverse coalition that put them in the White House, and he\u2019s going to need that vibrant, diverse coalition again for 2024,\u201d Jayapal said.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats are concerned that McCarthy and Republicans may be beating the White House in messaging.
