This is a significant victory for property owners and a blow to the EPA&#8217;s power to regulate waters.<\/p>\n<p>However, Democrats have been quick to criticize the ruling, with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rep. Ro Khanna both claiming that the Court&#8217;s decision will lead to more polluted water and destruction of wetlands. Schumer even attempted to turn the ruling into a campaign issue, promising to &#8220;keep fighting to protect our waters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Khanna went further, calling for Court reform and echoing the sentiments of progressive groups who are pushing to pack the Court with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/video-ketanji-brown-jackson-wont-say-court-packing-is-a-bad-idea\/\" title=\"VIDEO: Ketanji Brown Jackson Won\u2019t Say Court Packing is a Bad Idea\">left-wing justices<\/a>. This comes as Democratic megadonor George Soros has ramped up his funding of such groups.<\/p>\n<h3>The Details of the Case<\/h3>\n<p>In the case of Sackett v. Environmental Protection Agency, Michael and Chantell Sackett sued the EPA for declaring that it could regulate their Idaho property. The agency claimed it had the authority to do so because the property, which is near a ditch that feeds into a creek that in turn feeds into a lake, constitutes &#8220;wetlands,&#8221; which the EPA can regulate under the Clean Water Act.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of the Sacketts, with Justice Samuel Alito writing the majority opinion.
