Shapley believed it was his duty to draw attention to the probe and felt the prosecutors were mishandling such \u201ca high profile, controversial\u201d case.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere were multiple steps that were slow-walked \u2014 were just completely not done \u2014 at the direction of the Department of Justice,\u201d Shapley told CBS News. \u201cWhen I took control of this particular investigation, I immediately saw deviations from the normal process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was way outside the norm of what I\u2019ve experienced in the past.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The investigation into Hunter Biden has been ongoing for years and has been led by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump. The probe has been reviewing Biden\u2019s debts during his father\u2019s vice presidency when he served on the board of Burisma, an energy company in Ukraine, as well as a contested gun purchase. The tax debts were reportedly paid off via a loan from Biden\u2019s attorney, Kevin Morris.<\/p>\n<p>Shapley expressed concern that Biden was being protected during this investigation and blew the whistle, stating, \u201cEach and every time, it seemed to always benefit the subject. It just got to that point where that switch was turned on.
