Laurel Lee, R-Fla.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Democrats&#8217; Slanderous Attacks on Election Integrity<\/h3>\n<p>For the past several years, Democrats have routinely slandered anyone with legitimate questions about the conduction of the 2020 election. Concerns raised about the influence of hundreds of millions of \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks<\/a>,\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/09\/cia-solicited-signatures-for-hunter-biden-laptop-letter-congressional-testimony-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interference<\/a> by federal intel agencies, and censorship by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/15\/twitter-censors-again-blocks-second-new-york-post-story-on-hunter-biden-seeking-cash-from-chinese-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Big Tech<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/14\/facebook-is-now-officially-censoring-the-new-york-posts-hunter-biden-bombshell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">platforms<\/a> have been met with leftist accusations of subverting \u201cdemocracy\u201d and advancing \u201cconspiracy theories.\u201d Legacy media have additionally used the term \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/22\/the-election-denier-smear-is-the-dumbest-rhetorical-device-in-modern-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election denier<\/a>\u201d to smear and silence their political opponents over such concerns.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During Wednesday\u2019s hearing, however, Scot Turner, a former Republican state representative from Georgia, turned the tables, exposing Democrats as the party that has a history of pushing\u00a0<em>real<\/em>\u00a0conspiracy theories regarding the outcome of elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFaith in the results of elections is vitally key for the health of our republic. But more and more, that faith is shaken by false allegations,\u201d Turner said. \u201cIn 2016, the presidential election was marred by allegations of Russian hacking. And while evidence showed that the hacking was of email servers, by December of 2016, half of Democrat voters believed that Russians had changed vote tallies in favor of Donald Trump. That number would skyrocket to 67 percent \u2026 after a media barrage and many prominent leaders call[ed] the presidency of Donald Trump \u2018illegitimate.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A November 2018 Economist\/YouGov poll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/whoever-convinced-most-democrats-that-putin-hacked-the-election-tallies-is-doing-putins-bidding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> this to be the case, showing that 67 percent of Democrats believed it was \u201cdefinitely true\u201d or \u201cprobably true\u201d that \u201cRussia tampered with vote tallies in order to get Donald Trump elected.\u201d Meanwhile, only 17 percent of Republicans and 41 percent of Independents believed such a statement to have any semblance of accuracy, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/peterjhasson\/status\/1064259048902668289?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Stacey Abrams&#8217; Bogus Claims of Voter Suppression<\/h3>\n<p>During his testimony, Turner also highlighted former Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/08\/imaginary-georgia-gov-stacey-abrams-loses-reelection-to-same-republican-she-lost-to-four-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeated<\/a> insistence that her 2018 election against now-Republican Gov. Brian Kemp was illegitimate due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-smacks-down-stacey-abrams-bogus-claims-of-voter-suppression-in-2018-election-loss\/\" title=\"Judge Smacks Down Stacey Abrams\u2019 Bogus Claims Of Voter Suppression In 2018 Election Loss\">nonexistent voter suppression<\/a>. Shortly after the 2018 contest, for instance, Abrams\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/11\/16\/us\/elections\/georgia-governor-race-kemp-abrams.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>\u00a0a crowd of supporters that \u201cconcession means to acknowledge an action is right, true, or proper\u201d and that \u201cas a woman of conscience and faith, I cannot concede.\u201d Abrams repeated similar remarks during an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/457934-stacey-abrams-responds-to-rnc-chairwoman-concession-means-to-say-that-the\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">August 2019 interview<\/a>\u00a0with CBS News.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Abrams\u2019 bogus contention ultimately went down in flames last year when an Obama-appointed judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/03\/judge-smacks-down-stacey-abrams-bogus-claims-of-voter-suppression-in-2018-election-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struck down<\/a> her lawsuit challenging the election. In his opinion, Judge Steve Jones wrote that the voting practices challenged by Abrams\u2019 team \u201cviolate neither the constitution nor the [Voting Rights Act of 1965].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbrams\u2019 refusal [to concede] in 2018 is when it became apparent to me as a state representative just how damaging misinformation and disinformation are to our country,\u201d Turner said.<\/p>\n<p>Turner additionally referenced Democrats\u2019 slanderous attacks on Georgia\u2019s 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ga-poll-watcher-it-expert-non-trump-supporter-affidavit-sudden-surge-of-20000-mail-in-votes-for-biden-in-early-hours-on-nov\/\" title=\"GA Poll Watcher, IT Expert, Non-Trump Supporter Affidavit: Sudden Surge of 20,000 Mail-In-Votes For Biden In Early Hours On Nov\">election integrity<\/a> law, saying that dishonest opposition to such measures \u201care a form of voter suppression in their own right.\u201d Signed by Kemp in March 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/GA\/text\/SB202\/id\/2348602\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SB 202<\/a> included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/whats-in-the-georgia-voting-law-11617883732\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">provisions<\/a>\u00a0mandating voter ID for absentee voting and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/03\/georgias-election-law-isnt-suppression-its-common-sense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">other common-sense measures<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/progressive-policies-need-to-be-fought-off-by-states-rep-steube\/\" title=\"Progressive Policies Need to Be Fought Off by States: Rep. Steube\">ensure election integrity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>The Truth About Georgia&#8217;s Voting Law<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the left&#8217;s attempts to paint Georgia&#8217;s voting law as a Republican-led effort to suppress nonwhite voters, the facts tell a different story. The law actually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-gop-lawmakers-are-kicking-coca-cola-out-of-their-offices-for-trashing-election-reforms\/\" title=\"Georgia GOP Lawmakers Are Kicking Coca-Cola Out Of Their Offices For Trashing Election Reforms\">expands early voting<\/a> and puts safeguards in place to prevent voters from being given gifts or money within 150 feet of a polling place. <\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden grossly referred to SB 202 as \u201cJim Crow on steroids\u201d and called on Major League Baseball to relocate its 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta in protest. The MLB ultimately acquiesced, condemning the law and moving the game to Colorado, costing Georgia an estimated $100 million in revenue. Coca-Cola and Delta were also among those to condemn SB 202.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to Democrats\u2019 claims, the Republican-backed law did not suppress Georgians\u2019 ability to vote. In fact, the results from the 2022 midterms say otherwise. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-use-house-committee-hearing-to-demolish-democrats-bogus-election-lies\/\" title=\"GOP destroys Dems' false election claims in House hearing.\">state experienced record early voter turnout ahead<\/a> of the general election and record turnout for in-person, early voting for its Senate runoff. <\/p>\n<p>A poll conducted after the midterms revealed that 0 percent of black Georgia voters said they had a \u201cpoor\u201d experience voting in the 2022 contest. In fact, 73 percent said they had an \u2018excellent\u2019 overall experience voting.<\/p>\n<h3>The Data and Evidence Don&#8217;t Back Up Democrat Claims<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cAt each step of the way and with every improvement to the voting process, the Georgia General Assembly has had critics screaming at them that what they\u2019re doing is wrong, racist, and will hurt communities of various types,\u201d said Turner. \u201cAnd just like the claims that Russia hacked the election and changed votes, or that Abrams lost because of \u2018voter suppression,\u2019 or that the election was stolen, the data and evidence don\u2019t back up those claims.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">Shawn Fleetwood is a Staff Writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
