Lytle of Nixon Peabody LLP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/hunter-biden-investigation-being-mishandled-irs-whistleblower_914471.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revealed the <\/a><a title=\"Impeachment Witness\u2019s Brother, Panned By Trump Officials, Tapped For Promotion Under Biden\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/impeachment-witnesss-brother-panned-by-trump-officials-tapped-for-promotion-under-biden\/\">whistleblower complaint<\/a> in an April 19 letter <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-04\/Letter%20to%20Congress.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(pdf)<\/a> to members of Congress. Since then, Lytle and the whistleblower advocacy group <a href=\"https:\/\/empowr.us\/\">Empower Oversight<\/a> have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/irs-whistleblower-removed-from-hunter-biden-criminal-investigation-at-request-of-doj-attorneys_919640.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged retaliation<\/a> against the then-unnamed IRS agent.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/irs-whistleblower-tax-probe-hunter-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with CBS News that aired on Wednesday night, the IRS whistleblower revealed himself as Gary Shapley, a 14-year veteran of the agency.<\/p>\n<p>Shapley, who identified himself as an IRS supervisory special agent, told CBS News that he was assigned to the investigation in January of 2020. In the latest CBS interview, Shapley said he could not specifically identify the subject of the investigation due to <a title=\"Another IRS whistleblower accuses Hunter Biden of \" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/second-hunter-biden-irs-whistleblower-steps-forward-alleges-deeply-troubling-and-unacceptable-occurrences\/\">tax secrecy laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Neither Shapley nor his legal representatives have directly named Hunter Biden as the subject of what they\u2019ve called an \u201congoing and sensitive investigation of a high-profile, controversial subject.\u201d However, Empower Oversight has retweeted a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EMPOWR_us\/status\/1649109336310808592\">CBS News<\/a> report that named the president\u2019s son as the subject of the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>In December of 2020, Hunter Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/us-attorneys-office-in-delaware-is-investigating-hunter-bidens-taxes_538114.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did confirm<\/a> that the U.S. Attorney\u2019s office in Delaware had been investigating his taxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, my son has done nothing wrong,\u201d the president said in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntd.com\/biden-says-son-hunter-has-done-nothing-wrong-amid-rumors-of-federal-charges_917772.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> earlier this month. \u201cI trust him. I have faith in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Investigation \u2018Slow-Walked\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Shapley has claimed that the investigation was &#8220;slow-walked&#8221; and that there were &#8220;deviations&#8221; from the normal process that seemed to benefit the subject. In his own <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pajt8EgGF9w?t=24\">comments<\/a> to CBS News, Shapley said, \u201cWhen I took control of this particular investigation, I immediately saw deviations from the normal process. It was way outside the norm of what I\u2019ve experienced in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In March, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/da1swSgd2e8?feature=share&#038;t=16682\">Senate Judiciary Committee<\/a> that the U.S. Attorney in Delaware had full discretion in pursuing the Hunter Biden tax investigation and was \u201cnot restricted in his investigation in any way.\u201d Shapley, however, has claimed that, in his investigation, \u201cthere were multiple steps that were slow-walked\u2014were just completely not done\u2014at the direction of the Department of Justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shapley said he had never experienced \u201cdeviations\u201d from the investigative process like those he has seen in this case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd each and every time it seemed to always benefit the subject,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pajt8EgGF9w?t=102\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Shapley said he ultimately decided to file a whistleblower complaint after an October 2022 meeting with federal prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was my <a title=\"Hunter Biden's IRS whistleblower comes forward, citing a guilty conscience.\" href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-irs-whistleblower-reveals-self-couldnt-silence-my-conscience-anymore\/\">red-line meeting<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IRS agent has admitted he is a registered Republican and that the groups supporting his allegations have past ties to the Republican party, but he said his decision to come forward was not motivated by politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to do any of this. I took an oath of office and when I saw the egregiousness of some of these things, it no longer became a choice for me,\u201d he told <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pajt8EgGF9w?t=146\">CBS News<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not something that I want to do.
