However, McCarthy once found herself on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-newsom-lifts-calif-lockdown-orders-amid-mounting-backlash\/\" title=\"Gov. Newsom lifts Calif. lockdown orders amid mounting backlash\">film set<\/a> where she was doing anything but that.<\/p>\n<p>In a Sunday interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2023\/may\/21\/melissa-mccarthy-we-have-never-needed-to-laugh-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Guardian<\/a>, she was candid about an experience in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disneys-little-mermaid-reboot-set-record-flop-hollywood-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hollywood<\/a> that profoundly affected her.<\/p>\n<p>Once on set, McCarthy said, \u201cI did work for someone once who ran such a volatile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nigeria-jails-epoch-times-reporter-covering-jihadist-massacres\/\" title=\"Nigeria Jails Epoch Times Reporter Covering Jihadist Massacres\">hostile set<\/a> that it made me <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mccain-turns-on-biden-he-is-unfit-to-lead-has-brought-shame-dishonor-and-embarrassment-to-u-s\/\" title=\"McCain Turns On Biden: He \u2018Is Unfit To Lead,\u2019 Has Brought \u2018Shame, Dishonor, And Embarrassment\u2019 To U.S.\">physically ill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy eyes were swelling up, I was absorbing all of this nuttiness,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were people weeping, visibly so upset by this one person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy claimed this unnamed individual \u201cwould fire people I loved, which kept me quiet.\u201d The tactic worked, up until the actress just had enough.<\/p>\n<p>She recalled, \u201cI was like, \u2018It stops today!\u2019 I just kept saying to them, it stops, it stops. And I know now I\u2019ll never keep quiet again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actress did not name where this treatment occurred.<\/p>\n<h3>Creating a Better Working Environment<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to acting, McCarthy runs a production company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/melissa-mccarthy-sets-up-3-418751\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">On the Day<\/a>, with her husband Ben Falcone.<\/p>\n<p>Never wanting to have an unpleasant working environment, McCarthy told The Guardian that everyone needs to pass a \u201ccrazy check.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, we were so astounded and grateful at getting to build our own little worlds, we were like, \u2018We have to build the one we\u2019ve always talked about, where everybody gets to have an opinion and everyone is really nice.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The 52-year-old added, \u201c\u2018It\u2019s going to run a lot better with no screamers or crazy egos bumbling around. Why would we risk destroying that?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And this is maintained through one basic principle \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/people-taking-twitter-stories-tucker-carlsons-kindness-something-will-never-forget\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kindness<\/a>. McCarthy said, \u201cWe demand it.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>From Comedy to Villainy<\/h3>\n<p>Over the years, McCarthy has been a part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disney-star-recounts-how-hostile-film-set-made-her-physically-ill\/\" title=\"Disney star shares how 'toxic' film set made her sick.\">numerous high-profile projects<\/a>.
