According to The Washington Free Beacon, the foundation ran $8.5 million in arrears last year, while donations plunged 88% between 2021 and 2022. Co-founder Patrisse Cullors resigned from the organization in 2021 after she was accused of using BLM\u2019s funds for her personal use, a charge she has denied.<\/p>\n<h3>Real Estate Buying Binge<\/h3>\n<p>The New York Post reported, \u201cAs protests broke out across the country in the name of Black Lives Matter, the group\u2019s co-founder went on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fraud-blm-co-founder-patrisse-cullors-blasted-over-real-estate-buying-binge\/\" title=\"\u2018Fraud\u2019: BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors Blasted Over \u2018Real Estate Buying Binge\u2019\">real estate buying binge<\/a>, snagging four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cashing-in-blm-co-founder-goes-on-real-estate-buying-binge-snagging-four-homes-totaling-millions-of-dollars-report\/\" title=\"Cashing In: BLM Co-Founder Goes On \u2018Real-Estate Buying Binge,\u2019 Snagging Four Homes Totaling Millions Of Dollars: Report\u00a0\">high-end homes<\/a> for $3.2 million in the U.S. alone, according to property records.\u201d Cullors\u2019 relatives have been on the company\u2019s payroll including her brother Paul who had owned two companies that BLM paid $1.6 million in order to provide \u201cprofessional security services\u201d in 2022. Paul received a $126,000 salary as \u201chead of security\u201d in 2022 while companies linked to Damon Turner, the father of Cullors\u2019 child, received roughly $970,000 in 2021.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cKeeping it all in the family\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cWhile Patrisse Cullors was forced to resign due to charges of using BLM\u2019s funds for her personal use, it looks like she\u2019s still keeping it all in the family,\u201d Paul Kamenar of the National Legal and Policy Center watchdog group told the Free Beacon.<\/p>\n<h3>Spending Millions on Properties<\/h3>\n<p>In May 2022, news broke that Black Lives Matter paid out over $12 million for properties in Toronto and Los Angeles. The funds for a $6.3 million 10,000-square-foot property in Toronto came from an \u201cout of country grant\u201d meant for \u201cactivities to educate and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-refuses-to-answer-reporters-questions-asks-them-to-leave\/\" title=\"Biden refuses to answer reporters\u2019 questions, asks them to leave\">support black communities<\/a>, and to purchase and renovate property for charitable use,\u201d according to BLMGNF\u2019s federal tax filing for fiscal year 2020.<\/p>\n<h3>Building Efficient Infrastructure<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cNo one expected the foundation to grow at this pace and to this scale,\u201d said Cicley Gay, chair of the board of directors of BLMGNF, in May 2022. \u201cNow, we are taking time to build efficient infrastructure to run the largest black, abolitionist, philanthropic organization to ever exist in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a new board, we are building policies that didn\u2019t exist, operational and administrative infrastructure that didn\u2019t exist,\u201d board member Shalomyah Bowers echoed. \u201cWe\u2019re making it clear to black people that we\u2019re an institution and that we\u2019re here to stay. In order to do that, we need to demonstrate that our financial house is in order.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Donations and Fundraising<\/h3>\n<p>In 2021, the foundation said it raised $90 million in 2020.
