Experts Weigh In\">falsifying business records<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The trial date of March 25 was set during a hearing on Tuesday, where Trump appeared by video from his Florida home. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national-security\/2023\/05\/23\/trump-court-hearing-share-evidence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a>, Trump shook his head but made no comment to the court when the date was set.<\/p>\n<p>Although many states have moved their presidential primaries as early into 2024 as possible, April features heavyweight states such as Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/elections-and-campaigns\/2024-state-primary-election-dates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Council of State Legislatures<\/a>. This timing means that while other Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ron-desantis-elon-musk-teaming-bombshell-2024-campaign-announcement-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presidential candidates<\/a> are flying back and forth across the country for elections held on three Tuesdays in March, Trump will be focused on his trial.<\/p>\n<h3>The Charges Against Trump<\/h3>\n<p>Trump faces a 34-count indictment related to payments made in the 2016 election that the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office claims were recorded on the books of the Trump Organization in such a way as to conceal them during the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust had New York County Supreme Court hearing where I believe my First Amendment Rights, \u2018Freedom of Speech,\u2019 have been violated, and they forced upon us a trial date of March 25th, right in the middle of Primary season,\u201d Trump posted on his <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/110419656132610861\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truth Social<\/a> platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery unfair, but this is exactly what the Radical Left Democrats wanted. It\u2019s called ELECTION INTERFERENCE, and nothing like this has ever happened in our Country before!!!\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n<h3>Trump&#8217;s Concerns About the Trial<\/h3>\n<p>During Trump\u2019s video appearance for the hearing, New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan of Manhattan also briefed Trump on an order he issued that limits what materials related to the trial Trump can share publicly, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/trump-be-personally-ordered-not-disclose-evidence-hush-money-case-2023-05-23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyer Todd Blanche said Trump is \u201cvery much concerned that his First Amendment rights are being violated\u201d by the order and asked for clarification, using the phrase \u201ca gag order,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/23\/trump-appears-in-court-as-trial-date-set-for-march-25-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is certainly not a gag order,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ny-trump-judge-donated-biden-radical-left-wing-orgs-receipts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Merchan<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is certainly not my intention in any way to impede his right to campaign for president of the United States.
