Version: 4.0.47--><h2>Trump&#8217;s Lawyers Request Meeting with U.S. Attorney General Over Special Counsel Investigations<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>(Reuters)\u2014<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">Lawyers\u00a0<\/span>for Donald<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Trump\u00a0<\/span>on Tuesday asked to meet U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland over the work of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">special counsel<\/a> who is handling two investigations into the former president.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No President of the United States has ever, in the history of our country, been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-lawyers-request-meeting-with-garland-over-classified-documents-investigation\/\" title=\"Trump's lawyers want to meet with Garland about the investigation into classified documents.\">baselessly investigated<\/a> in such an outrageous and unlawful fashion,&#8221;<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0lawyers\u00a0<\/span>John Rowley and James Trusty wrote in a letter that<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Trump\u00a0<\/span>posted on social media.<\/p>\n<p>They requested a meeting with Garland &#8220;at your earliest convenience to discuss the ongoing injustice that is being perpetrated by your Special Counsel and his prosecutors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Garland appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith in November to handle the two<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Trump\u00a0<\/span>investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The first investigation is looking into attempts to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power following<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Trump<\/span>&#8216;s November 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The second is looking at<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Trump<\/span>&#8216;s retention of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/roger-stone-announces-he-will-sue-those-who-arrested-him-and-put-him-in-front-of-a-kangaroo-court\/\" title=\"Roger Stone Announces He Will Sue Those Who Arrested Him and Put Him In Front of a Kangaroo Court\">classified documents<\/a> at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida after leaving office in January 2021, and whether he tried to obstruct the Justice Department&#8217;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p><span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">Trump<\/span>&#8216;s<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0lawyers\u00a0<\/span>did not specify in the letter which investigation they wanted to discuss.<\/p>\n<p>The letter was not signed by Evan Corcoran, who is recused from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-speaker-mccarthy-officially-ends-proxy-voting\/\" title=\"House Speaker McCarthy Officially Ends Proxy Voting\">classified document investigation<\/a> after a judge compelled him to testify before a grand jury about his discussions with<span data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Trump\u00a0<\/span>about the material.
