Michael McCaul (R., Texas), who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/afghanistan-document-shows-biden-didnt-heed-warnings-withdrawal-rep-mccaul-says\">reviewed<\/a> a State Department cable this week that the administration had refused to release for months. The document details the concerns of diplomats at the U.S. embassy in Kabul ahead of President Joe Biden&#8217;s disastrous exit from the country.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The dissenters were absolutely right about everything they said, and it was a warning to the administration about what was going to happen and what they needed to do,&#8221; McCaul <a href=\"https:\/\/punchbowl.news\/archive\/52423-punchbowl-news-am\/\">told<\/a> <em>Punchbowl News<\/em>. &#8220;Unfortunately, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/softballs-and-adoration-read-the-questions-reporters-have-asked-bidens-press-secretary\/\" title=\"Softballs And Adoration: Read The \u2018Questions\u2019 Reporters Have Asked Biden\u2019s Press Secretary\">administration didn\u2019<\/a>t heed all their warnings and we got what we got,&#8221; McCaul said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Republican pressed Biden&#8217;s State Department for months to see the cable. McCaul earlier this month threatened to hold Secretary of State Antony Blinken in contempt if he did not allow access. It would have made Blinken the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/tony-blinken-could-become-first-secretary-of-state-held-in-contempt-of-congress\/\">first<\/a> secretary of state to be held in contempt by Congress.<\/p>\n<h3>Disastrous Consequences<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Biden administration hurriedly withdrew American forces from Afghanistan in August 2021.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-ignored-warnings-before-afghan-withdrawal-disaster-gop-rep-says\/\" title=\"GOP Rep Claims Biden Ignored Warnings Prior to Afghan Withdrawal Disaster.\">country quickly fell<\/a> to the Taliban, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/04\/27\/politics\/afghan-weapons-left-behind\/index.html\">seized<\/a> billions of dollars worth of U.S. military equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Amid the chaotic evacuation of the country, 13 U.S. service members were killed in an ISIS suicide bombing.<\/li>\n<li>The Biden administration has still not properly <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/?post_type=post&#038;p=1726200\">vetted<\/a> 88,000 Afghan refugees who fled to the United States after the Taliban took over.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The consequences of the Biden administration&#8217;s failure to heed warnings about the Afghanistan withdrawal have been disastrous. It&#8217;s clear that the warnings were there, but they were ignored.
