As such, the Select Committee recommends that Congress move to vastly expand the NDAA\u2019s mandate to create training programs for the Taiwanese military, as well as to integrate military planning across both nations\u2019 forces.<\/p>\n<h3>Shared Tactics and Procedures<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis expanded training should build towards shared tactics, techniques, and procedures, as well as improved communications and data sharing,\u201d the document says. \u201cA combined planning group would improve the ability of the United States to understand Taiwan\u2019s defense needs and build familiarity between the two militaries. Standing up this type of liaison group prior to any crisis would allow U.S. and Taiwanese planners to build trust and develop procedures for working together.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>International Support<\/h3>\n<p>The report&#8217;s recommendations come as Taiwan faces increasing pressure from China, with the CCP ramping up its military presence in the region.
