This is the forerunner to an expected Biden veto.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-joint-resolution\/53\/text\">legislation<\/a> would roll back a rule submitted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for trucks in December 2022. The rule, which can be read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/regulations-emissions-vehicles-and-engines\/final-rule-and-related-materials-control-air-pollution#:~:text=On%20December%2020%2C%202022%2C%20EPA,heavy%2Dduty%20vehicles%20and%20engines\">here<\/a>, \u201csets stronger emissions standards to further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tree-equity-democrat-spending-bill-designates-3b-to-make-low-income-neighborhoods-green\/\" title=\"'Tree Equity': Democrat Spending Bill Designates B to Make Low-Income Neighborhoods Green\">reduce air pollution<\/a>, including pollutants that create ozone and particulate matter, from heavy-duty vehicles and engines starting in model year 2027,\u201d according to the EPA.<\/p>\n<p>Heavy-duty vehicles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/current\/title-40\/chapter-I\/subchapter-U\/part-1036\/subpart-I\">are those<\/a> with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-electric-vehicle-tax-credits-get-tougher-to-navigate\/\" title=\"US Electric Vehicle Tax Credits Get Tougher to Navigate\">gross vehicle weight rating<\/a> (GVWR) above 8,500 pounds. Four Democrats crossed the aisle to join 217 Republicans in backing the measure.<\/p>\n<h3>Lawmakers Back and Forth<\/h3>\n<p>Republicans voiced their concerns over the rule\u2019s practicality and downstream effects. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas), who spearheaded efforts in the House, said the EPA\u2019s regulation \u201cwill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/canada-announces-strict-quarantine-rules-for-travelers\/\" title=\"Canada announces strict quarantine rules for travelers\">significantly increase<\/a> the costs of heavy-duty vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWoke bureaucrats in Washington are on a climate justice crusade,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats touted the supposed benefits of the EPA\u2019s actions, which they claim will significantly reduce harmful pollution traceable to <a href=\"https:\/\/nepis.epa.gov\/Exe\/ZyPDF.cgi?Dockey=P101695R.pdf\">nitrogen oxides<\/a> in a technologically and economically feasible manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis rule is completely achievable. That\u2019s why industry is generally supportive,\u201d said Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.), the ranking member of Rodgers\u2019 energy committee.<\/p>\n<h3>Veto Would Continue a Biden Trend<\/h3>\n<p>Biden\u2019s anticipated veto would mark the latest such action by the president to shield his work on energy, the environment, and climate from Republican-led joint resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>On May 16, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-vetoes-bill-restoring-tariffs-on-some-chinese-solar-panels_5269664.html\">took down legislation<\/a> to restore tariffs on some solar panels traceable to China.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Biden vetoed a measure that would have overturned his new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/biden-vetoes-joint-resolution-against-his-water-rule_5177730.html\">water rule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On May 23, the House voted to repeal the EPA&#8217;s rule on heavy-duty vehicle emissions, a blow to Biden&#8217;s environmental agenda.
