The bill, sponsored by Republican State Rep. Danny McCormick, was passed with a vote of 70 to 29 and will now move to the Senate.<\/p>\n<h3>Wait-and-See Attitude<\/h3>\n<p>While the bill has been welcomed by many, Louisiana Shooting Association (LSA) president Dan Zelenska is taking a cautious approach. \u201cTime is its biggest enemy,\u201d he told The Epoch Times.<\/p>\n<h3>Restoring the Second Amendment<\/h3>\n<p>McCormick introduced the bill on the House Floor, stating that it \u201crestores the Second Amendment in Louisiana.\u201d He has been pushing for the legislation since 2020, believing that asking the government\u2019s permission to exercise a constitutional right is insulting. \u201cThere is nothing more unjust than making a citizen pay for a right they already have,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h3>Debate Over Age Restrictions<\/h3>\n<p>Republican Rep. Debbie Villio offered an amendment to raise the age to carry from 18 to 21, citing concerns over the maturity of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/high-school-students-attending-prom-received-branding-if-they-didnt-have-covid-19-vaccine\/\" title=\"High School Students Attending Prom Received \u2018Branding\u2019 If They Didn\u2019t Have COVID-19 Vaccine\">18-year-olds<\/a>. However, the bill passed without Villio\u2019s amendment. McCormick argued that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/state-legislature-in-louisiana-considering-4th-constitutional-carry-bill-since-2020\/\" title=\"Louisiana's State Legislature mulls over 4th Constitutional Carry Bill since 2020.\">selectively denying law-abiding 18-year-olds<\/a> their rights would not solve the crime problem, pointing out that they can vote, serve in the military, and are even prosecuted as adults when charged with serious crimes.<\/p>\n<h3>Eliminating Confusion<\/h3>\n<p>Villio also offered an amendment that placed the same restrictions on where a firearm could be carried on those carrying without a permit as those with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/youtuber-and-investor-turned-ca-gov-candidate-talks-future-schools-solving-homelessness-crisis-and-more\/\" title=\"YouTuber And Investor Turned CA Gov Candidate Talks \u2018Future Schools,\u2019 Solving Homelessness Crisis, And More\">concealed carry license<\/a>, to eliminate confusion between the two groups.<\/p>\n<h3>What\u2019s Next?<\/h3>\n<p>The bill will now move to the Senate, where it will face further debate and scrutiny.
