Jean Carroll&#8217;s Attempt to Get More Money<\/h2>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump and his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-key-points-from-trump-campaign-press-conference-on-challenges-to-election-results\/\" title=\"9 Key Points from Trump Campaign Press Conference on Challenges to Election Results\">legal team<\/a> are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-you-can-do-to-stop-the-steal\/\" title=\"What You Can Do to Stop the Steal\">fighting back<\/a> against a legal maneuver from writer E. Jean Carroll to use a long-stalled defamation lawsuit as a vehicle to get more money out of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Carroll won a civil lawsuit against Trump in which the jury rejected her claim the former president raped her in the 1990s but awarded her $2 million in damages for sexual battery and $3 million for defamation.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, the front-runner among Republicans running for president in 2024, has denied the allegations and is appealing the verdict.<\/p>\n<h3>Carroll Seeks to Amend Defamation Lawsuit<\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p>On Monday, Carroll sought to amend a 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/e-jean-carroll-goes-trump-seeks-new-damages-cnn-town-hall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defamation lawsuit<\/a> she filed against Trump for his comments when she first went public with her allegations, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/05\/22\/nyregion\/carroll-trump-cnn-defamation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She is seeking to include the jury verdict against the former president and his comments about her in a May 10 town hall on CNN in a demand for punitive damages.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/05\/22\/e-jean-carroll-seeks-very-substantial-damages-from-trump-over-cnn-town-hall-remarks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>, Carroll is seeking $10 million from the former president.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-investigating-spacexs-hiring-practices-after-non-u-s-citizen-alleges-discrimination\/\" title=\"DOJ Investigating SpaceX\u2019s Hiring Practices After Non-U.S. Citizen Alleges Discrimination\">court filing<\/a> said his statements at the town hall \u201cshow the depth of his malice toward Carroll, since it is hard to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/e-jean-carroll-sues-trump-again-over-cnn-town-hall\/\" title=\"E. Jean Carroll sues Trump for second time over CNN event.\">imagine defamatory conduct<\/a> that could possibly be more motivated by hatred, ill will or spite,\u201d the Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Trump attorney Alina Habba said late Monday that Carroll was not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/donald-trump-delivers-fiery-reaction-e-jean-carroll-verdict-announces-next-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entitled<\/a> to anything from her 2019 civil suit, \u201clet alone punitive damages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe intend to vigorously oppose this motion, which we view as nothing more than a desperate, last-ditch effort by Ms. Carroll to upend this case,\u201d Habba said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Seemingly unfazed by the prospect of another payout, Trump fired back Tuesday on his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know E. Jean Carroll, I never met her or touched her (except on a celebrity line with her African American husband who she disgustingly called the \u2018Ape,\u2019), I wouldn\u2019t want to know or touch her, I never abused her or raped her or took her to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/team-trump-fires-back-after-e-jean-carroll-makes-court-move-to-go-after-him-for-more\/\" title=\"Trump's team responds to E. Jean Carroll's court move.\">dressing room 25 years ago<\/a> in a crowded department store where the doors are LOCKED, she has no idea when, or did anything else to her, except deny her Fake, Made Up Story, that she wrote in a book.
