The reason? Brandt believed the victim was a &#8220;Republican extremist.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Initially charged with murder, Brandt has now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-to-pardon-gen-michael-flynn-per-report\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump to Pardon Gen. Michael Flynn, Per Report\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to manslaughter and faces a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-gives-pardons-to-73-individuals-and-commutes-another-70-sentences-steve-bannon-is-included\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump Gives Pardons to 73 Individuals and Commutes Another 70 Sentences \u2013 Steve Bannon Is Included\">maximum sentence<\/a> of 10 years behind bars. The prosecutor dropped the murder charge, and a charge of leaving the scene of an accident was also dismissed.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/man-who-killed-teen-and-told-911-the-youth-was-a-republican-extremist-pleads-guilty-after-murder-charge-is-dropped\/\" title=\"Man pleads guilty after murder charge dropped for killing teen and falsely labeling him as a 'Republican extremist' during 911 call.\">deadly confrontation began<\/a> after a dance in the town of McHenry. The victim, Cayler Ellingson, called his mother just before the crash, asking if she knew who Brandt was. She confirmed that she did and said she was on her way to pick him up. A short time later, Ellingson called his mother again, saying that &#8220;he&#8221; or &#8220;they&#8221; were chasing him.
