These bills aim to support law enforcement officers and condemn efforts to defund or dismantle police departments.<\/p>\n<h3>The Three Resolutions<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>HR 2494: Makes assaulting a law enforcement officer a deportable offense for illegal aliens<\/li>\n<li>HR 3091: Allows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hypocrisy-trump-team-shows-videos-of-democrat-lawmakers-during-impeachment-trial\/\" title=\"\u2018Hypocrisy:\u2019 Trump Team Shows Videos of Democrat Lawmakers During Impeachment Trial\">federal law enforcement officers<\/a> to purchase their service weapons at retirement<\/li>\n<li>CR 40: Expresses gratitude for local law enforcement while condemning efforts to defund or dismantle police departments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the debate, House Democrats criticized the language in CR 40, claiming that it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-passes-3-pro-law-enforcement-resolutions-203-democrats-vote-against-measures\/\" title=\"House approves 3 pro-police resolutions; 203 Dems reject.\">excluded federal law enforcement officers<\/a>. Rep. James McGovern (D-Mass.) said that Republicans only support some of the police and accused them of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-panel-advances-police-bills-in-party-line-vote-after-contentious-hearing\/\" title=\"Police bills move forward in House panel vote after heated hearing.\">slighting federal law enforcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.) countered that several Democrats backed the &#8220;defund the police&#8221; movement that grew out of the 2020 George Floyd protests. She accused the other side of playing &#8220;word games&#8221; to draw attention away from that fact.<\/p>\n<p>Qualified immunity, the legal principle that protects government officials, including the police, from being sued for actions taken during their regular duties, was also a topic of discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the debate, the U.S. House of Representatives remains committed to honoring National Police Week and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">supporting law enforcement officers<\/a> across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. House of Representatives approved three pro-law enforcement resolutions for National Police Week.
