Adam Schiff (D-CA) doubled down on Tuesday, calling the just-concluded Durham investigation \u201cflawed from the start\u201d and claiming that it had only begun on the political whim of former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Schiff made his assessment during an appearance on MSNBC, telling anchor Lawrence O\u2019Donnell that special counsel John Durham\u2019s report had not led to any indictments \u2014 much less convictions \u2013 which he said was proof that the four years of investigation had netted nothing.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<p>The Durham investigation was flawed from the start.<\/p>\n<p>It began for a political purpose \u2013 to satisfy Trump. It resulted in two spectacular failures at trial. And ended with nothing to show for four years of effort.<\/p>\n<p>Bottom line: FBI had a good reason to investigate \u2013 Durham didn\u2019t. pic.twitter.com\/kK8sBddGVf<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Schiff (@RepAdamSchiff) May 16, 2023<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Donnell set Schiff up with his initial question, saying that the Durham investigation had ended \u201cwith a new report about nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schiff readily agreed, saying, \u201cThis is an investigation that started in a flawed manner, it was conducted in a flawed manner, and its conclusion is a flawed conclusion. It began in a flawed way because this was the result of Donald Trump badgering Bill Barr to investigate the investigators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schiff went on to say that the only reason Durham was even brought in to investigate was Trump\u2019s insistence that he was the focus of a political \u201cwitch hunt.\u201d And despite Durham\u2019s findings indicating a number of departures from proper procedure on behalf of the FBI \u2013 and even the bureau\u2019s own subsequent admission that mistakes had been made with regard to Crossfire Hurricane\u2019s inception \u2014 Schiff insisted that the Mueller investigation had been rooted in a real crime and was therefore begun with just cause.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cbottom line,\u201d according to Schiff, was that the FBI \u201chad a good reason to investigate Trump\u201d whereas \u201cDurham did not\u201d have a good reason to investigate the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/p>\n<p>Schiff did not go into detail regarding what that \u201cgood reason\u201d was \u2014 and O\u2019Donnell did not press him on the matter. O\u2019Donnell also did not bring up the numerous occasions when Schiff had claimed to have\u00a0direct evidence that Trump had colluded with Russia \u2013 evidence that Mueller did not find during the course of his investigation, and evidence that Schiff has yet to reveal publicly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
