Democrats and Republicans alike have voiced their dismay, with some even taking action to ensure that these service members have a bed to sleep in tonight.<\/p>\n<h3>Displacing Veterans to Alleviate the Migrant Crisis<\/h3>\n<p>New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams has been transporting migrants roughly 60 miles north of the Big Apple to Orange County with a plan to house them for up to four months. However, this has come at a cost to homeless veterans who have been displaced to make room for the migrants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is absolutely outrageous that homeless veterans would be displaced to alleviate New York City\u2019s migrant crisis. That Mayor Eric Adams would choose to endanger the welfare of our veterans speaks volumes to what a debacle this has become,\u201d said Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY).<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cWe Owe Them\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>David R. Riley Sr., American Legion Department of New York commander, also spoke out against the displacement of homeless veterans. \u201cThese veterans served their country, taking an oath to put themselves in harm\u2019s way if need be. They deserve better. We owe them. Our country, our state, our citizens owe them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h3>Controversy Continues<\/h3>\n<p>The controversy surrounding the displacement of homeless veterans to make room for migrants has only continued to grow.
