Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote in a statement on Twitter that they have reached out to the Justice Department to have Durham testify next week.<\/p>\n<h3>What Happened?<\/h3>\n<p>The Department of Justice (DOJ) published the much-anticipated Durham report, concluding the Special Counsel\u2019s three<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/daily-wire-reporter-who-broke-loudoun-rape-story-examines-61-school-districts-nationwide\/\" title=\"Daily Wire Reporter Who Broke Loudoun Rape Story Examines 61 School Districts Nationwide\">-year-long investigation<\/a> into the FBI\u2019s conduct\u2014and alleged misconduct\u2014in investigating the Trump campaign from July 2016 to May 2017. According to the report, the FBI\u2019s rush to open the investigation and the shoddy foundations used as the premise for the probe were a departure from how the agency treated other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-jeopardized-national-security-by-calling-verified-hunter-biden-evidence-disinformation-whistleblowers-say\/\" title=\"FBI Jeopardized National Security By Calling Verified Hunter Biden Evidence \u2018Disinformation,\u2019 Whistleblowers Say\">politically sensitive investigations<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>One example of this was the FBI\u2019s handling of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton\u2019s unauthorized use of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-73976-ballots-released-by-maricopa-county-56-1-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"BREAKING: 73,976 Ballots Released By Maricopa County \u2014 56.1% FOR DONALD TRUMP\">private email server<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-gop-requests-testimony-from-durham-as-report-on-fbi-probe-into-trump-campaign-released\/\" title=\"GOP House seeks Durham testimony as FBI probe report on Trump campaign is released.\">transmit top-secret government emails<\/a>, the report indicated. It noted that the FBI and Justice Department restricted an inquiry into the Clinton Foundation so that little to no investigative activity could occur in the months leading up to the election.<\/p>\n<p>But the agency had a different attitude towards Trump, Durham concluded, as evident by his observation that \u201cneither U.S. nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.\u201d Crossfire Hurricane was the codename for the FBI\u2019s investigation into the Trump campaign.<\/p>\n<h3>Reaction to the Report<\/h3>\n<p>Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote on Twitter that \u201cleftists have infiltrated nearly every institution in this country.\u201d Johnson has been a vocal critic of what he calls the \u201cweaponization\u201d of government agencies and now sits on the Judiciary Committee\u2019s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), the third-ranking Republican in the House, echoed Johnson\u2019s view in characterizing the report as showing that federal agencies were weaponized against Trump. \u201cThis criminal abuse of power went all the way up to the Oval Office where President Obama and then Vice-President Joe Biden were in on it from the very beginning,\u201d she wrote in a statement published on Monday.<\/p>\n<h3>Request for Testimony<\/h3>\n<p>Jordan indicated in a Monday letter (pdf) published on Twitter that the hearing would occur on May 25.
