This offer was made despite the FBI&#8217;s knowledge that Steele&#8217;s dossier relied primarily on one person, or \u201csubsource,\u201d Igor Danchenko.<\/p>\n<h3>Payoffs to Danchenko Despite Lack of Evidence<\/h3>\n<p>The FBI paid Danchenko $220,000 even after he was unable to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-kennedy-asked-the-fbi-to-look-into-speaker-pelosis-father-for-connections-to-the-mob-documents-quietly-released-last-week-confirm-this\/\" title=\"President Kennedy Asked the FBI to Look Into Speaker Pelosi\u2019s Father for Connections to the Mob \u2013 Documents Quietly Released Last Week Confirm This\">provide evidence<\/a> for a single one of his claims. It had closed a counterintelligence investigation into him in 2011 only because agents mistakenly believed he had left the country.<\/p>\n<h3>Disregarding Evidence Against Danchenko<\/h3>\n<p>Kevin Helson, an FBI agent who served as Danchenko\u2019s handler, filled out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-offered-to-pay-steele-1m-for-anti-trump-evidence-paid-possible-russian-spy-despite-knowing-his-info-was-bad\/\" title=\"FBI offered M to Steele for anti-Trump evidence, paid Russian spy despite bad info.\">confidential source application incorrectly stating<\/a> that there was no derogatory information about him. Helson later said he disregarded the evidence against Danchenko because a Baltimore special agent who worked on that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-doj-investigating-lobbying-firm-linked-to-hunter-biden\/\" title=\"REPORT: DOJ Investigating Lobbying Firm Linked To Hunter Biden\">probe told<\/a> him it was \u201chearsay at best.\u201d But that Baltimore agent adamantly told Durham that she had said no such thing.<\/p>\n<h3>Top Brass Insisted on Paying Danchenko<\/h3>\n<p>Top brass were bizarrely adamant about paying Danchenko, to the point that even after Durham began investigating FBI misconduct in the Trump probe, FBI brass proposed paying him $300,000 more.
