Li Hui, who previously served as China&#8217;s ambassador to Russia for 10 years, will have communications on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin.<\/p>\n<h3>China&#8217;s Role in the Conflict<\/h3>\n<p>Despite not condemning the war and pushing Russia&#8217;s account of the conflict, Beijing has repeatedly sought to portray itself as a neutral arbiter looking to play the role of peacemaker. China has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinese-special-envoy-to-visit-ukraine-and-russia-among-other-countries\/\" title=\"Chinese envoy to visit Ukraine, Russia and other nations.\">considered providing lethal aid<\/a> to Russia for use in the war, according to the Biden administration, though officials maintain they have not seen this take place yet.<\/p>\n<p>Through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/russia-mulls-chinas-12-point-peace-plan\/\" title=\"Russia Mulls China's \"12-Point Peace Plan\"\">12-point peace plan<\/a>, China continues to push for peace in the war. Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are close allies that increasingly find themselves aligned together and in opposition to the West.<\/p>\n<h3>The Peace Plan<\/h3>\n<p>Putin said he supports &#8220;many of the provisions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/putin-says-russia-supports-many-of-the-provisions-in-chinas-ukraine-peace-plan\/\" title=\"Putin says Russia supports 'many of the provisions' in China's Ukraine peace plan\">peace plan put forward<\/a> by China,&#8221; which includes a ceasefire that would freeze the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/xi-arrives-in-moscow-for-meeting-with-putin\/\" title=\"Xi's Arrival in Moscow for Meeting with Putin\">current battlefield positions<\/a> in place, effectively solidifying Russia&#8217;s gains on the battlefield. U.S. officials have said this would provide Russian forces the opportunity to resupply and redeploy for future offensives. However, Ukrainian leaders have said any deal that includes territorial compromises is a non-starter.<\/p>\n<h3>Recent Developments<\/h3>\n<p>Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Xi in April, and Xi said he wouldn&#8217;t add &#8220;fuel to the fire,&#8221; possibly signaling that China won&#8217;t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/justice-dept-launches-regional-gun-trafficking-strike-forces\/\" title=\"Justice Dept Launches Regional Gun Trafficking Strike Forces\">provide weapons<\/a> to Moscow.
