The National Security Council made the announcement on Friday, just over a week after Iran&#8217;s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. This marks the 15th time in the past two years that Iran has harassed, attacked, or interfered with a merchant vessel.<\/p>\n<h3>Commitment to Regional Security<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;The United States is committed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pentagon-beefs-up-presence-in-persian-gulf-after-iranian-harassment-of-vessels\/\" title=\"US increases presence in Persian Gulf after Iranian vessel harassment.\">supporting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-faces-first-main-foreign-policy-test-within-georgia\/\" title=\"Biden Faces First Main Foreign Policy Test within Georgia\">regional security<\/a> coalitions<\/a> within the Middle East region and internationally,&#8221; said National Security Council coordinator John Kirby. &#8220;Today, the Department of Defense will be making a series of moves to bolster our defensive posture in the Arabian Gulf.&#8221; The U.S. will not allow foreign or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-considers-road-map-for-normalizing-relations-with-taliban\/\" title=\"Biden Considers \u2018Road Map\u2019 for Normalizing Relations with Taliban\">regional powers<\/a> to jeopardize freedom of navigation in the Middle East waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.<\/p>\n<h3>Working with Regional Partners<\/h3>\n<p>Michael Lawhorn, CENTCOM spokesman, stated that the U.S. is currently discussing options with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">regional partners<\/a> who remain concerned about the repeated and unjustified threats, illegal seizures, and attacks throughout the region&#8217;s waterways.
