The new carbon pollution standards for coal and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/epa-bureaucrats-attempt-to-upend-energy-industry-ignoring-scotus-decision-that-says-they-cant\/\" title=\"EPA bureaucrats defy SCOTUS ruling, target energy industry.\">natural gas-fired power plants demand plants reduce<\/a> their emissions by 90% within two decades or face closure. Compliance with the agency\u2019s mandatory targets would require the deployment of innovative carbon capture technologies not in use at a single U.S. power plant. The new rules will push utilities to retire aging coal plants while the administration creates an artificial market for energy generation by wind and solar through generous subsidies.<\/p>\n<h3>What the Experts Say<\/h3>\n<p>Tom Pyle, the president of the American Energy Alliance, warns that the environmental regulations threaten to undermine the power grid if the proposed rules make it past the courts. \u201cIf this regulation survives a court challenge, which is very much in doubt,\u201d Pyle said, \u201cIt will lead to more blackouts and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/uk-to-build-8-nuclear-power-plants-expand-offshore-oil-production-in-energy-security-push\/\" title=\"UK to Build 8 Nuclear Power Plants, Expand Offshore Oil Production in Energy Security Push\">higher electricity prices<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Bernhardt, a long-time administrator who previously served as secretary of the Interior under President Donald Trump, outlined the consequences of the decision in a new book out this week. \u201cThe bottom line,\u201d Bernhardt wrote, \u201cis that if the federal judiciary pays homage to the West Virginia decision, it will likely mean that the people will make the rules through their elected representatives \u2014 not federal bureaucrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Impact of the Proposal<\/h3>\n<p>Since the EPA\u2019s draft rule relies on new and unproven technologies to meet agency requirements, the new regulations present a sweeping transformation of the power grid.
