Bragg is the first prosecutor in U.S. history to bring a criminal case against a current or former U.S. president.<\/p>\n<p>Despite legal experts and members of the liberal media warning Bragg about pushing a vague charge for a crime that exceeded its statute of limitations, he went forward anyway. Conservative radio talk show host and writer, Dennis Prager, believes it&#8217;s all part of a plan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would not rule out that this is part of the design by others who have influenced Alvin Bragg,&#8221; Prager told The Epoch Times. Yet he also conceded that Bragg &#8220;may have decided this completely on his own.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Prager believes that Democrats and anti-Trumpers want the former president to run because they think he will lose to President Joe Biden. Recent polling tells a different story.<\/p>\n<p>In a match-up between Biden and Trump, the latest ABC News and Washington Post poll showed Trump leading Biden by six points: 44 to 38. Biden also trails in a hypothetical match-up against someone who has yet to declare his candidacy, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who leads Biden by five points: 42 to 37. More significantly, while 56 percent of Americans expressed disapproval of Biden, 58 percent of the Democrats said they do not want Biden as their candidate in 2024. Biden&#8217;s overall approval rating has also dropped to a new record low: 36 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Post-indictment polling confirms that Republican support for Trump has grown stronger. A CBS News shows 58 percent of GOP voters support Trump. Among those, 94 percent said it was because of his performance as president, and 84 percent said it was because they thought he could beat Biden. <\/p>\n<h3>DeSantis Falls, Liberal Media Courts Trump<\/h3>\n<p>Real Clear Politics&#8217; Tom Bevan says, &#8220;If you look at our Real Clear Politics average, Trump had about a 14-point lead over DeSantis, and that stayed pretty stable until around the end of March. Then there was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/analysis-how-trump-turned-the-tables-on-manhattan-das-indictment\/\" title=\"Trump flipped the script on Manhattan DA's indictment.\">real dramatic jump<\/a> for Trump and a fall-off for DeSantis, where Trump jumped to a 30-point lead. He&#8217;s basically doubled his lead, and that&#8217;s been pretty consistent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Asked about Prager&#8217;s belief that Bragg may hope to make history, Bevan said it&#8217;s possible. &#8220;But I think there is another element,&#8221; he suggested, adding that &#8220;the people who go after Trump are not dumb.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They believe Trump will be easy to beat. Biden already beat him, and they want that match-up again,&#8221; Bevan explained. &#8220;On the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/graham-the-medias-collapsing-trust\/\" title=\"GRAHAM: The Media\u2019s Collapsing Trust\">media side<\/a> of it, all of these news organizations joined the resistance movement right after Trump was elected in 2016. But now they&#8217;re right back where they were before that election. They can&#8217;t get enough of him in terms of their coverage of him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bevan is also struck by the enthusiasm of those who still believe the indictment will hurt Trump, &#8220;especially with something as egregious as what Alvin Bragg has done, tying himself in knots to come up with some novel legal theory to press this charge after the statute of limitations has run out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Indictment Strengthened Trump&#8217;s Favorability<\/h3>\n<p>Post-indictment polling confirms that Republican support for Trump has grown stronger. A CBS News shows 58 percent of GOP voters support Trump. Among those, 94 percent said it was because of his performance as president, and 84 percent said it was because they thought he could beat Biden. <\/p>\n<p>Regarding a potential race between Trump and DeSantis, 58 percent picked Trump. Only 22 percent chose DeSantis, a spread of 36 percentage points. Polling by FiveThirtyEight and Fox show a similar spread.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>Despite the indictment, Trump&#8217;s favorability has only grown stronger, and he remains a top contender for the 2024 presidential race. The media&#8217;s obsession with him has only fueled his supporters, and Democrats may be underestimating his chances of winning.
