Thompson\u2019s tweet on Sunday came about a week after Austin Killips, a transgender female, won the Tour of the Gila overall category against biological females. <\/p>\n<h3> Time for Women Cyclists to Protest <\/h3>\n<p> Thompson urged women cyclists to start protesting against UCI policies. She suggested that they start taking a knee at the starting lines, and team managers need to speak up and protect their riders. She also recommended holding signs at every race that read \u2018Save Women\u2019s Sports.\u2019 <\/p>\n<h3> UCI\u2019s Response <\/h3>\n<p> The UCI initially defended its participation policy but appeared to change its tone on Thursday, according to The Guardian. The organization said, &#8220;The UCI\u2019s objective remains the same: to take into consideration, in the context of the evolution of our society, the desire of transgender athletes to practice cycling. The UCI also hears the voices of female athletes and their concerns about an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/so-easy-i-was-cruising-teammate-says-penns-trans-swimmer-boasted-after-destroying-competition\/\" title=\"\u2018So Easy I Was Cruising\u2019: Teammate Says Penn\u2019s Trans Swimmer Boasted After Destroying Competition\">equal playing field<\/a> for competitors and will take into account all elements, including the evolution of scientific knowledge.&#8221; <\/p>\n<h3> Killips\u2019 Triumph <\/h3>\n<p> Killips became the first transgender female to win a UCI stage race. The UCI tightened its rules for transgender female riders to compete against biological females in its events.
