Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) is not messing around when it comes to the investigation into the United States&#8217; withdrawal from Afghanistan. He&#8217;s even threatening to hold Secretary of State Antony Blinken in contempt of Congress! <\/p>\n<p>McCaul, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs committee, sent a letter to Blinken on May 5th demanding that he comply with a subpoena for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-introduce-articles-of-impeachment-to-remove-antony-blinken-from-office-over-afghanistan\/\" title=\"Republicans Introduce Articles Of Impeachment To Remove Antony Blinken From Office Over Afghanistan\">dissent cable<\/a> sent by U.S. diplomats in Kabul. The cable questioned the Biden administration&#8217;s intentions to remove troops in 2021 and was reportedly signed by 23 State Department officials. <\/p>\n<p>In the letter, McCaul stated that if Blinken fails to comply with the subpoena, the committee is prepared to take necessary steps to enforce it, including holding him in contempt of Congress and\/or initiating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-gop-threatens-blinken-with-contempt-of-congress-over-response-to-subpoena\/\" title=\"GOP warns Blinken of Congress contempt for not complying with subpoena.\">civil enforcement proceeding<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>This drama has been brewing for a while now. The committee initially asked for the documents earlier this year, but the State Department failed to comply with the subpoena by the April 19th deadline.
