However, audio has revealed how a heroic police officer single-handedly took down the shooter, preventing him from taking more lives. The Daily Mail reported on a call the officer made:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The officer made a frantic phone call begging for his colleagues to join him on the scene, radioing: &#8216;I need everybody I got.&#8217;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The officer bravely ran towards the active shooter &#8211; who was armed with 60 rounds and had shot over a dozen people by this point &#8211; and killed him. About two minutes after first calling for backup, the cop said: &#8216;I got him down.&#8217; Minutes later, another voice is heard on the radio saying: &#8216;We got victims. I need an ambulance.&#8217;<\/p>\n<h3>Tragedy Reignites Gun Control Debate<\/h3>\n<p>The tragedy in Allen, which happened just over a week after another deadly shooting in the Texas town of Cleveland, reignited the heated debate over gun control in the United States. In a statement on Sunday, President Biden renewed calls for the U.S. Congress to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-gun-policies-concern-second-amendment-advocates\/\" title=\"Biden gun policies concern Second Amendment advocates\">ban assault weapons<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-to-congress-enact-major-restrictions-on-constitutionally-protected-second-amendment-rights\/\" title=\"Biden To Congress: Enact Major Restrictions On Constitutionally Protected Second Amendment Rights\">high-capacity magazines<\/a>, as well as to enact universal background checks and end immunity for gun manufacturers. A family member identified one of the slain victims on social media as Christian LaCour, a security guard. Allen police said three wounded victims were hospitalized in critical condition on Sunday, and at least three were hospitalized in fair condition, including one at a children&#8217;s hospital.
