The resolution, filed by the Follow This activist shareholder group, asks the energy giant to align with the 2015 Paris climate deal. It has ruled out setting absolute emissions cuts targets, including the combustion of its products. Measuring emissions by intensity means a company can technically increase its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-how-much-power-bills-could-rise-this-winter\/\" title=\"Here\u2019s How Much Power Bills Could Rise This Winter\">fossil fuel output<\/a> and overall emissions while using offsets or adding renewable energy or biofuels to its product mix.<\/p>\n<h3>ISS Recommendations<\/h3>\n<p>ISS, whose recommendations steer many investors\u2019 voting, said Follow This\u2019s \u201cargument that intensity metrics are not a substitute for absolute metrics is entirely valid\u201d and is echoed by ISS analysis. It said the merits of the activist resolution are \u201cfully accepted\u201d but if adopted it would \u201crepresent a change in strategy from the one that Shell has adopted\u201d which is why ISS recommends a vote against it.
