Paramount has confirmed that the hugely successful show \u201cYellowstone\u201d will be ending, with the final episodes of the current fifth season airing in November. This announcement came after Kevin Costner\u2019s wife Christine Baumgartner, who he\u2019s been married to for 18 years, filed for divorce on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>   \u2018Yellowstone\u2019 Ending\u00a0 Daily Mail reported that the end of \u201cYellowstone\u201d was announced by Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime\/MTV Entertainment Studios.<\/p>\n<p> \u201c\u2018Yellowstone\u2019 has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits \u2014 from \u20181883\u2019 to \u2018Tulsa King,\u2019 and I am confident our sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan [the show\u2019s creator] and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>  Deadline previously reported that Matthew McConaughey is in talks to star in a sequel series to \u201cYellowstone.\u201d A Paramount spokesman said that \u201cMcConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we\u2019d love to partner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>     Subscribe and get our daily emails and follow us on social media. <\/p>\n<p> By opting in, you agree to receive emails with the latest in Lifestyle + Entertainment from TellMeNow. Your information will not be shared with or sold to 3rd parties.<\/p>\n<p>   The sequel series will air on Paramount Network and then stream exclusively on Paramount+.<\/p>\n<p>   Related: \u2018Yellowstone\u2019 Ending After Current Fifth Season Amidst Drama Between Kevin Costner And Creator Taylor Sheridan, Sources Allege<\/p>\n<p> Tensions On \u2018Yellowstone\u2019 Set\u00a0 Rumors had long swirled that there was serious drama behind the scenes on \u201cYellowstone\u201d between the star Costner and the show\u2019s creator Taylor Sheridan.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt\u2019s the same as with any showrunner and big star \u2014 there\u2019s respect, but there\u2019s friction,\u201d a well-placed production source told The New York Post\u00a0last month.<\/p>\n<p> Another highly-placed Hollywood source stated that while there is ego at play here, it might not necessarily be Costner\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cTaylor is the star of his show,\u201d this insider explained. \u201cHe\u2019s the most important person on all of his shows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cTaylor spent years not being truly appreciated in Hollywood, and now that he\u2019s the top of the heap, there\u2019s definitely some ego to all of this,\u201d the Hollywood source continued.<\/p>\n<p>    Costner Shoots Down Rumors It was claimed earlier this year that Costner only wanted to spend one week shooting the second half of season five, but he denied this through his attorney, who said this claim was \u201can absolute lie.\u201d The Hollywood source agreed that Costner was ready to shoot at the end of last year and in January, but Sheridan had no scripts ready.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cKevin\u2019s been extremely cooperative with working with Taylor and his production company, 101 Studios,\u201d said the Hollywood source. \u201cThey were supposed to shoot the second chapter of Season 5 late last year, but they just didn\u2019t have the scripts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cTaylor is overburdened and Kevin made himself available at the beginning of the year, but again, nothing was ready,\u201d the Hollywood source continued. \u201cKevin had already committed to making his other movies. He had given the producers his schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIn the entertainment industry, you can\u2019t keep yourself in a holding pattern and available while the producers are not getting their act together with the scripts,\u201d this source explained. \u201cThere was nothing to shoot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>   Costner\u2019s Divorce This comes at a difficult time for Costner, as sources close to him have said he was \u201cstunned\u201d by his wife filing for divorce earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cKevin was very surprised by Christine\u2019s actions, he obviously doesn\u2019t want the divorce and he would take her back,\u201d a source close to Costner told Page Six.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s disappointing, he loves her and he loves his children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Costner and Baumgartner, 49, are parents to Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 12.\u00a0The source went on to shoot down rumors that Costner had cheated on Baumgartner.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThere was no issue of cheating at all,\u201d the insider added.<\/p>\n<p>  Full Story: Kevin Costner Blindsided By Wife Filing For Divorce \u2013 He\u2019s \u2018Stunned\u2019<\/p>\n<p>   \u201cYellowstone\u201d is one of the most popular shows on television, as shown by the fact that a whopping 12.1 million people watched the season five premiere back in November.
