The footage shows the suspect trying to talk his way out of a ticket after running a red light at Washington State University, where he was a criminal justice graduate student at the time. The officer eventually let the suspect go without even a written warning.<\/p>\n<h3>The Murders<\/h3>\n<p>One month after the traffic stop, the suspect allegedly murdered four students in their off-campus home on November 13, 2022. The victims were Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Madison Mogen, 21. The suspect was arrested at his parents\u2019 home in Pennsylvania six weeks after the murders.<\/p>\n<h3>Challenging the Gag Order<\/h3>\n<p>Goncalves\u2019 family is now challenging a court order saying they cannot speak publicly about the case. Several media outlets, including KXLY, have also challenged the gag order with no success.<\/p>\n<h3>Search Warrants and Evidence<\/h3>\n<p>More than 60 warrants have been served to major companies and banks in connection to the murders, including Amazon, DoorDash, Reddit, and the owner of dating sites such as Tinder and OkCupid. Investigators had been surveilling the home for weeks prior to the suspect\u2019s arrest, and during that time, they searched the trash cans outside. A trash pull that was done days before recovered DNA profiles but not from him, only from his family members.<\/p>\n<p>Items taken from the suspect\u2019s parent\u2019s home at the time of his arrest include a flashlight, four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-what-police-collected-when-they-arrested-the-accused-idaho-killer\/\" title=\"Here\u2019s What Police Collected When They Arrested The Accused Idaho Killer\">medical-style gloves<\/a>, a T-shirt, a Washington State Cougars sweatshirt, a pair of size 13 Nike shoes, as well as Under Armour black socks, shorts, and boxers. Police also collected a cheek swab from the suspect for DNA.<\/p>\n<h3>The Trial<\/h3>\n<p>A trial date for the accused killer still has not been set. The shoes and the cheek swab could play a significant role in court, as they could be compared to any shoe impressions that might have been recovered at the scene and the DNA of the snap button for the sheath of the knife found at the off-campus residence where the victims were found stabbed to death.<\/p>\n<p>Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer said, \u201cIt\u2019s a big deal. That is a smoking license. Just like the sheath was a smoking sheath found next to Maddie with his DNA on that clasp, it\u2019s the same thing in this situation.
