The 32-year-old singer said being found guilty would mean the end of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-media-echo-chambers-are-destroying-america-guest-r-a-the-rugged-man-vince-jason-save-the-nation\/\" title=\"How Media Echo Chambers Are Destroying America | Guest R.A. The Rugged Man | Vince &#038; Jason Save The Nation\">musical career<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf that happens, I\u2019m done \u2013 I\u2019m stopping. I find it really insulting to work my whole life as a singer-songwriter and diminish it,\u201d Sheeran said during the trial.<\/p>\n<h3>Sheeran Denies Copying \u201cLet\u2019s Get It On\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cDid you copy anything from \u2018Let\u2019s Get it On\u2019 when you wrote \u2018Thinking Out Loud?\u2019\u201d Farkas asked the musician outright during the trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d he answered.<\/p>\n<p>Sheeran and his \u201cThinking Out Loud\u201d co-writer Amy Wadge said the single shared more similarities to multiple Van Morrison songs, including \u201cTupelo Honey\u201d and \u201cCrazy Love,\u201d which he demonstrated by playing those songs on the stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce we had written and Ed started playing it from the phone, we both said it was a Van (Morrison) song,\u201d Wadge said in her testimony. \u201cIt had the same sort of feel as a Van Morrison song.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Basic Musical Building Blocks<\/h3>\n<p>Sheeran\u2019s attorney also presented the argument that the four-chord progression in question was very basic and that \u201cno one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ed-sheeran-testifies-in-copyright-case-wouldve-been-an-idiot-to-openly-flaunt-stealing-lets-get-it-on\/\" title=\"Ed Sheeran Testifies In Copyright Case: \u2018Would\u2019ve Been An Idiot\u2019 To Openly Flaunt Stealing \u2018Let\u2019s Get It On\u2019\">owns basic musical building blocks<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sheeran\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-trump-campaign-takes-fight-over-pennsylvania-election-and-mail-in-ballot-laws-to-us-supreme-court\/\" title=\"NEW: Trump Campaign Takes Fight Over Pennsylvania Election and Mail-In Ballot Laws to US Supreme Court\">legal team wrote<\/a> in an earlier written filing, \u201cThe two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ed-sheeran-im-done-if-plaintiffs-win-copyright-case-accusing-him-of-copying-marvin-gaye\/\" title=\"Ed Sheeran may quit if he loses copyright case over Marvin Gaye song.\">songs share versions<\/a> of a similar and unprotectable chord progression that was freely available to all songwriters.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Opposition to Lawsuits<\/h3>\n<p>The British songwriter has been involved in legal battles before. One of his previous copyright cases was settled out of court, while he won the other. Sheeran has vocally opposed these types of lawsuits before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really damaging to the songwriting industry. There\u2019s only so many notes and very few chords used in pop music,\u201d Sheeran said during a video post he shared on Instagram. \u201cCoincidence is bound to happen if 60,000 songs are being released every day on Spotify. That\u2019s 22 million songs a year, and there\u2019s only 12 notes that are available. I\u2019m not an entity. I\u2019m not a corporation. I\u2019m a human being. I\u2019m a father. I\u2019m a husband. I\u2019m a son.
