Janet Mills, are working to pass legislation enshrining their unlimited, on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-are-desperate-to-distract-from-the-real-issues-plaguing-voters\/\" title=\"Democrats Are Desperate To Distract From The Real Issues Plaguing Voters\">-demand abortion extremism<\/a> in law for more than 1.3 million people.<\/p>\n<h3>Maine&#8217;s Current Abortion Law<\/h3>\n<p>Current Maine law states that abortions may only be performed before \u201cviability,\u201d a term often defined as between 23 and 24 weeks gestation. Any abortions performed beyond the designated viability period were allowed based on a necessity to \u201cpreserve the life or health of the mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Proposed Changes to Maine&#8217;s Abortion Law<\/h3>\n<p>The bill from Maine\u2019s Democrat trifecta government would replace the exception for when a mother\u2019s life is in danger with a clause allowing abortions at any point in pregnancy based on \u201cthe professional judgment of a [licensed] physician.\u201d The legislation also ensures that unlicensed abortionists or anyone who ends an unborn baby\u2019s life \u201cwhen it was not necessary for the preservation of the life or health of the mother\u201d will not face any criminal penalty or punishment from the state.<\/p>\n<h3>Democrats Want to Loosen Abortion Laws<\/h3>\n<p>Mills and her Democrat allies in the legislature said they want to further loosen the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-signs-memorandum-backpedaling-on-president-trumps-abortion-policies\/\" title=\"Joe Biden signs memorandum backpedaling on President Trump\u2019s abortion policies\">abortion laws<\/a> to stick it to the Supreme Court and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/idaho-governor-signs-bill-banning-abortions-after-fetal-heartbeat-can-be-detected\/\" title=\"Idaho Governor Signs Bill Banning Abortions After Fetal Heartbeat Can Be Detected\">pro-life states<\/a> following the Dobbs v. Jackson decision last summer. Planned Parenthood and corporate media also expressed support for the legislation.<\/p>\n<h3>Pushback from Pro-Lifers<\/h3>\n<p>Despite strong pushback from their constituents, Maine Democrats are expected to pass the bill without a hitch. When hundreds of people showed up to the State House in Maine to voice their opposition to the bill, their concerns were minimized.
