Prosecutors have dropped the criminal charges against Baldwin. His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/simon-schuster-brushes-off-woke-employees-will-not-cancel-mike-pence-book-deal\/\" title=\"Simon &#038; Schuster Brushes Off \u2018Woke\u2019 Employees, Will Not Cancel Mike Pence Book Deal\">working-class employees<\/a> are taking the fall for him, proving there are two systems of justice.<\/p>\n<h3>Rules for Thee<\/h3>\n<p>New Mexico prosecutors filed to dismiss the charges against Baldwin in late April and said \u201cnew facts were revealed that demand further investigation and forensic analysis\u201d before the planned May 3 preliminary hearing. They left open the possibility of refiling charges against Baldwin for the death of Halyna Hutchins, but it is unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin, 65, is now back reshooting \u201cRust\u201d on a new Montana set. Baldwin is both the star and a producer of the movie. The Western stopped filming on Oct. 21, 2021, after Hutchins, 42, was shot in the chest. The bullet went through her and lodged in director Joel Souza\u2019s shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>Two of Baldwin\u2019s crew members, who are not on the new movie set, didn\u2019t get off scot-free.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The movie\u2019s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, remains charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.<\/li>\n<li>Assistant Director Dave Halls pled no contest to a charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon in March and got six months\u2019 probation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s difficult to reconcile how Baldwin\u2019s charges would be dismissed and the charges remain against Hannah,\u201d Gutierrez-Reed\u2019s attorney, Jason Bowles of New Mexico, told me. \u201cHannah wasn\u2019t in the church when the gun was fired. She wasn\u2019t called back in to complete another safety check with Baldwin. That\u2019s the fault of production, not Hannah.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Smoking Trigger<\/h3>\n<p>When the charges were dropped, Baldwin\u2019s lawyers said in a statement that they were \u201cpleased with the decision\u201d and \u201cencourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin\u2019s lawyers\u2019 reference to a \u201cproper investigation\u201d is about discovering that the gun\u2019s trigger was allegedly changed before the movie, according to unnamed sources in several media outlets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe trigger thing is just a smokescreen,\u201d Attorney Andrew F. Branca of the Law of Self Defense told me. \u201cThe trigger is irrelevant to Baldwin\u2019s reckless conduct \u2014 that conduct is reckless by simply pointing the loaded weapon at Hutchins without having insured it was unloaded, as that alone creates a foreseeable and unjustified risk of death.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Scapegoat<\/h3>\n<p>After the charges were dropped against Baldwin, the preliminary hearing for Gutierrez-Reed\u00a0was postponed until August. The charging documents say she\u00a0should have pushed back harder when Baldwin refused training and did not have her stay with the firearm on set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHannah followed safety rules on set. No one has identified any rule that she allegedly broke,\u201d said her lawyer Bowles. \u201cShe did her job to the best of her ability, and requested more training days and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alec-baldwin-gets-the-best-justice-money-can-buy\/\" title=\"Alec Baldwin buys the best justice.\">specific cross-draw training<\/a> for Baldwin, which was either denied or ignored.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the end, a rich, A-list actor got off all charges and is back to being a movie star. Baldwin scapegoated a young woman without money or power for his arrogant refusal to follow gun safety rules.
