Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Chuck Grassley of Iowa sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ronjohnson.senate.gov\/services\/files\/5353159B-B21B-4ABC-A66A-6EC274C1F2CB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to Blinken demanding that he turn over any and all records \u201creferring or relating to Hunter Biden, his business dealings, or his family\u2019s business dealings\u201d by May 15. The request comes as part of Senate Republicans\u2019 investigation into the Biden family\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-will-subpoena-hunter-biden-if-the-gop-retakes-control-of-the-house\/\" title=\"House Republicans Will Subpoena Hunter Biden if the GOP Retakes Control of the House\">foreign business ventures<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h3>Did Blinken Lie Under Oath?<\/h3>\n<p>In the letter, Johnson and Grassley document a series of emails revealing how Blinken seemingly lied under oath about his prior communications with Hunter. While testifying before Congress on Dec. 22, 2020, Blinken was asked if he had any means of correspondence \u2014including phone calls, emails, or texts \u2014 with Hunter Biden during his time as President Barack Obama\u2019s deputy secretary of state, to which Blinken replied, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emails from Hunter\u2019s laptop, however, appear to contradict Blinken\u2019s December 2020 testimony. As documented in the Johnson-Grassley letter, Hunter emailed Blinken at his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-supreme-court-pick-shielded-top-clinton-aide-amid-email-scandal\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Supreme Court Pick Shielded Top Clinton Aide Amid Email Scandal\">personal email address<\/a> on May 22, 2015, asking if the then-deputy secretary of state was available to meet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know you are impossibly busy, but would like to get your advice on a couple of things,\u201d Hunter wrote, to which Blinken replied, \u201cAbsolutely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blinken sent another email to Hunter a few months later on July 22, indicating the two met in person. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat to\u2026 see you and catch up,\u201d Blinken wrote. \u201cYou will love this: after you left, Marjorie, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gopers-order-blinken-to-turn-over-all-communications-with-hunter-biden-after-emails-show-he-lied-to-congress\/\" title=\"GOP demands Blinken hand over all Hunter Biden communication after emails reveal he lied to Congress.\">wonderful african american woman<\/a> who sits in my outer office (and used to be Colin Powell\u2019s assistant) said to me :\u2019He sure is pleasant on the eyes.\u2019 Tell you wife.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Questions About Blinken&#8217;s Knowledge of Hunter&#8217;s Business Ties<\/h3>\n<p>The Johnson-Grassley letter also raises questions regarding Blinken\u2019s knowledge of Hunter\u2019s role as a Burisma Holdings board member. Burisma Holdings is a Ukrainian gas company that paid Hunter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/31\/how-can-hunter-biden-say-he-did-nothing-unethical-but-wouldnt-take-the-seat-on-burisma-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$50,000 a month<\/a>\u00a0despite the president\u2019s son having no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-biden-family-racket-is-everything-leftists-fabricated-about-the-trumps-and-media-are-crickets\/\" title=\"The Biden Family Racket Is Everything Leftists Fabricated About The Trumps, And Media Are Crickets\">prior energy experience<\/a>. Joe Biden has claimed that while vice president, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/video\/opinion-joe-biden-forced-ukraine-to-fire-prosecutor-for-aid-money\/C1C51BB8-3988-4070-869F-CAD3CA0E81D8.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">threatened<\/a>\u00a0to withdraw U.S. aid <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/16\/heres-why-the-hunter-biden-corruption-story-is-worth-investigating-chuck-todd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">if<\/a> then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko \u201cdidn\u2019t fire state prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating Burisma at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Blinken claiming to have no knowledge of Hunter\u2019s Burisma ties during his December 2020 testimony, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ronjohnson.senate.gov\/services\/files\/5353159B-B21B-4ABC-A66A-6EC274C1F2CB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">emails<\/a> from Hunter\u2019s laptop reveal that Blinken\u2019s wife, Evan Ryan, \u201ccorresponded directly with Hunter Biden (from her personal email address) in an apparent attempt to connect [Blinken] with representatives of Burisma\u2019s U.S. lobbying firm, Blue Star Strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In what appears to be an email chain dated July 14, 2016, Hunter informed Ryan that \u201cS\u201d and \u201cK\u201d \u2014 who appear to be Sally Painter and Karen Tramontano, Blue Star Strategies\u2019 Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer \u2014 told him \u201cthey called the State Department and left a message.\u201d In her email to Hunter, Ryan appeared to reference Blinken, writing \u201cHe didn\u2019t get the msg\u201d and \u201cHe said if we can get him their numbers he can call them late afternoon DC time tmrw.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While this specific email exchange doesn\u2019t name Blinken, Johnson and Grassley noted that State Department documents obtained during their inquiry \u201cmake it clear that [Blinken was] concurrently trying to connect with representatives from Blue Star Strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Ex-CIA Official Claims Blinken Prompted Infamous Intel Statement<\/h3>\n<p>These revelations follow testimony from an ex-CIA official, who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/21\/ex-cia-official-blinken-prompted-infamous-intel-statement-calling-hunter-biden-laptop-russian-disinfo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> that Blinken, during his time as a Biden campaign adviser, was the catalyst for the creation of a debunked letter from former intelligence officials that falsely claimed the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>About the Author:<\/h3>\n<div>\n<figure>\n    <!-- Image goes here --><br \/>\n  <\/figure>\n<p><strong>Shawn Fleetwood<\/strong> is a Staff Writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
