While many speculate he will run for reelection in the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate<\/a>, the centrist Democrat is stirring rumors that he may opt to run for the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White House<\/a> \u2014 on a third-party ticket.<\/p>\nManchin is known for working across the aisle to achieve bipartisanship on major matters, such as the Inflation Reduction Act. He is one of several centrist Democratic senators, such as Sens. <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kyrsten-sinema\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyrsten Sinema<\/a> (I-AZ) and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jon-tester\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jon Tester<\/a> (D-MT), who often vote against or openly criticize policies championed by President <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> and more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-prepares-for-fight-against-bipartisan-push-to-end-covid-emergency\/\" title=\"Biden Prepares for Fight Against Bipartisan Push to End COVID Emergency\">left-leaning senators<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Manchin Leaves Door Open to White House Bid in 2024<\/h3>\n<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/manchin-dodges-question-on-white-house-bid-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchin has suggested in the past he could leave the Democratic Party<\/a><\/b>. He said voters are “starving” for less partisanship in politics. <\/p>\nHe said voters are sick of \u201cthis constant, daily routine of everyone\u2019s against everybody and everybody\u2019s fighting and arguing.\u201d <\/p>\n\u201cLet\u2019s be for the country and get something done,\u201d he said. <\/p>\nHe has noted his 12-year relationship with the No Labels, a centrist party group that is working to gain access to ballots across all 50 states to open the doors for a third-party candidate in the presidential elections. <\/p>\nThe nonprofit organization is committed to raising roughly $70 million to gather signatures and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/04\/26\/1171937810\/no-labels-arizona-ballot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">qualify for the 2024 ballots<\/a> in individual states, per NPR. So far, they’ve gained access in Arizona, Colorado, Alaska, and Oregon. <\/p>\nWhen asked about whether he could run nationwide on the No Labels ticket, Manchin said, \u201cPeople are starving, starving to work together.\u201d <\/p>\n\u201cI\u2019ve been part of No Labels since December of 2010. It\u2019s the only game in town that wants to bring people together and get Democrats and Republicans working together,\u201d he said. <\/p>\nStill, the West Virginia senator has kept quiet on his plans for the next election. He said he plans to announce his decision in early 2024. <\/p>\n<h3>2024 West Virginia Senate Race<\/h3>\nWhile Manchin mulls his options, the 2024 West Virginia Senate race is already heating up, as Republicans eye the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-rep-tim-ryan-announces-ohio-senate-bid\/\" title=\"Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan announces Ohio Senate bid\">red-leaning state<\/a> as one of their best pick-up opportunities to flip the Senate. <\/p>\nGov. Jim Justice (R-WV) <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/justice-announces-run-joe-manchin-senate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entered the Senate race<\/a> last week, joining Rep. Alex Mooney (R-WV) in the GOP’s battle to unseat Manchin. <\/p>\nJustice is shaping up to be Manchin’s toughest opponent. Polls show Justice as the only Republican with a lead over Manchin. The governor is also entering the race with a 64% approval rating, indicating that Republicans, some Democrats, and some independents <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/republican-chance-west-virginia-senate-seat-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approve<\/a> of his work as governor. <\/p>\nHow that would transfer to the Senate race is yet to be seen, but the poll showed that Justice’s approval rating is 24% higher than Manchin’s. <\/p>\nThe entry of Justice into the race is further sparking speculation that Manchin, who has beaten his Republican opponents handily since his first race in 2010, may want to avoid a close battle with narrower odds and try his hand at running for president. However, given he is not expected to make a decision until January 2024, it is likely he will keep an eye on Justice’s polling in the later 2023 months before announcing his next steps. <\/p>\nManchin has <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/manchin-bigger-thorn-in-biden-side\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ramped up<\/a> his harsh criticisms of Biden as well \u2014 another indicator that he may be planning to run against him for the White House. <\/p>\nThe West Virginia senator said he would <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/manchin-slams-biden-inflation-reduction-act-debt-ceiling-negotiations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vote to repeal<\/a> the Inflation Reduction Act if the Biden administration does not adhere to the provisions.
