The judge overseeing the case, Robert McBurney, has extended the deadline for the Fulton County district attorney to respond to former President Donald Trump&#8217;s efforts to quash the jury&#8217;s report. <\/p>\n<p>Originally, the district attorney had until May 1 to respond to Trump&#8217;s motion to quash, which was filed on March 20. However, Judge McBurney has extended the deadline to May 15. <\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/fulton-county-da-warns-reaction-trump-indictment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FULTON COUNTY DA WARNS VIOLENT REACTION COULD FOLLOW TRUMP INDICTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT THIS SUMMER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cathleen Latham, an &#8220;alternate elector&#8221; advanced by the state Republican Party following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fraud-alert-analysis-of-3000-counties-reveals-joe-biden-received-5-6-more-votes-in-counties-using-dominion-voting-machines\/\" title=\"FRAUD ALERT: Analysis of 3,000 Counties Reveals Joe Biden Received 5.6% More Votes in Counties Using Dominion Voting Machines\">2020 general election results<\/a>, joined Trump and filed a similar motion to quash the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texans-deshaun-watson-avoids-indictment-after-grand-jury-reviews-multiple-sex-assault-claims\/\" title=\"Texans\u2019 Deshaun Watson Avoids Indictment After Grand Jury Reviews Multiple Sex Assault Claims\">grand jury&#8217;<\/a>s findings on April 28. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Both motions also seek the disqualification of the Fulton County District Attorney&#8217;s Office from any further investigation into or prosecution of any alleged interference with the 2020 general election,&#8221; McBurney wrote. &#8220;So that all arguments can be considered together, the District Attorney&#8217;s Office deadline for filing a combined response is extended to May 15, 2023.&#8221; <\/p>\n<h3>Background<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Willis began her investigation into alleged election interference days after a recording was posted of a January 2021 phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger urging him to \u201cfind\u201d enough votes to overturn his defeat in Georgia.<\/li>\n<li>The special grand jury enlisted to assist in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-extends-das-deadline-to-respond-to-trumps-motion-to-quash-grand-jury-report\/\" title=\"Judge extends DA's deadline to respond to Trump's motion to quash grand jury report\">investigation reportedly recommended multiple indictments<\/a> that could be related to conspiracy and racketeering charges, though no defendants have been named.<\/li>\n<li>At the time of the grand jury report&#8217;s release, it noted that a majority of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fulton-county-prosecutors-request-meeting-with-trump-attorney-christina-bobb\/\" title=\"Fulton County prosecutors request meeting with Trump attorney Christina Bobb\">grand jury believed<\/a> at least one of the over 75 witnesses who testified in the investigation committed perjury or lied under oath. Some of the witnesses include former Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, along with lawmakers, including Sen.
