Attempts to Implement New Ethics Oversight Measures<\/h2>\n<p>The political Left has been trying to generate controversy surrounding three conservative justices in recent weeks, prompting all nine Supreme Court Justices to issue a statement late last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/i-dont-need-to-have-numbers-kathy-hochul-blows-off-facts-claims-concealed-carry-makes-new-yorkers-less-safe\/\" title=\"\u2018I Don\u2019t Need To Have Numbers\u2019: Kathy Hochul Blows Off Facts, Claims Concealed Carry Makes New Yorkers Less Safe\">week pushing back<\/a> on attempts from Senate Democrats to implement new ethics oversight measures over the nation\u2019s highest court.<\/p>\n<p>The statement from the justices also included a letter from Chief Justice John Roberts to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Richard Durbin (D-IL) saying that he will not attend a hearing that Senate Democrats want to hold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTestimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee by the Chief Justice of the United States is exceedingly rare, as one might expect in light of separation of powers concerns and the importance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-justice-john-roberts-refuses-to-testify-before-congress\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Justice John Roberts Refuses to Testify Before Congress\">preserving judicial independence<\/a>,\u201d Roberts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/Letter%20to%20Chairman%20Durbin%2004.25.2023.pdf\"><b>said<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The statement from the nine justices said that they wrote it to \u201cprovide new clarity to the bar and to the public on how the Justices address certain recurring issues, and also seeks to dispel some common misconceptions.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>How Justices Deal with Issues<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The justices do not comment on political matters or on cases that may come before the Court.<\/li>\n<li>Justices do not engage in public debate or take positions on policy issues.<\/li>\n<li>Justices do not endorse or oppose candidates for political office.<\/li>\n<li>Justices do not attend political events or fundraisers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The letter then laid out how justices deal with a variety of issues that they face, some of which have been included in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/all-9-supreme-court-justices-issue-rare-statement-after-leftist-attacks-on-conservative-justices\/\" title=\"All 9 Supreme Court Justices Issue Rare Statement After Leftist Attacks On Conservative Justices\">recent left-wing attacks<\/a> on Justices Roberts, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/9-supreme-court-justices-push-back-oversight-raises\/story?id=98917921\"><b>reported<\/b><\/a> that the apparent message contained in the unanimous letter from the justices \u201cthough not expressly stated, is that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/all-nine-scotus-justices-issue-rare-statement-rejecting-senate-democrats-new-ethics-oversight-measures\/\" title=\"All Nine SCOTUS Justices Issue Rare Statement Rejecting Senate Democrats' New \"Ethics Oversight\" Measures\">court unanimously rejects legislation proposed<\/a> by Democrats seeking to impose on the justices the same ethics obligations applied to all other federal judges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter also addressed recent threats against justices, which reached a fever pitch last year when a leftist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/07\/27\/politics\/kavanaugh-roske-arrest-warrant\/index.html\"><b>reportedly<\/b><\/a> attempted to assassinate up to 3 conservative justices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA word is necessary concerning security. Judges at all levels face increased threats to personal safety,\u201d the letter said. \u201cThese threats are magnified with respect to Members of the Supreme Court, given the higher profile of the matters they address. Recent episodes confirm that such dangers are not merely hypothetical. Security issues are addressed by the Supreme Court Police, United States Marshals, state and local law enforcement, and other authorities.
