This has led to a decline in royalties and fees for the brand.<\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1\" style=\"min-width: 320px; min-height: 50px; text-align: center;\">\n        <script>\n          googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1663871513696-art-1'); });\n        <\/script>\n      <\/div>\n<p>The chain has been closing thousands of U.S. locations in recent years due to over-expansion, outdated operations and decor, stale menus, and $5 footlong deals that eroded franchisees\u2019 profits. Despite a turnaround plan under Chief Executive John Chidsey, which included a refreshed menu and splashy advertising campaign with A-list celebrities, it can take several years for such plans to succeed, according to restaurant consultant John Gordon.<\/p>\n<p>Continued closings can also hurt public perception, said franchisee advisor Robert Edwards. \u201cThat\u2019s baggage that they\u2019ll be hard pressed to step away from,\u201d Edwards said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Subway has been optimizing its footprint by using a strategic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/securities-and-exchange-commission-goes-woke-ig-says-it-should-copy-k-12-equity-efforts\/\" title=\"Securities And Exchange Commission Goes Woke, IG Says It Should Copy K-12 Equity Efforts\">data-driven approach<\/a> to ensure restaurants are in the right location, image, and format.
