About 30% of the approximately 3.4 million searches were done in error, which is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/group-our-vote-matters-is-suing-facebook-dominion-mark-zuckerberg-certain-state-officials-others-for-infringing-upon-right-to-vote-assemble-and-speak-freely-you-can-jo\/\" title=\"Group \u201cOur Vote Matters\u201d Is Suing Facebook, Dominion, Mark Zuckerberg, Certain State Officials, Others for Infringing Upon Right to Vote, Assemble and Speak Freely \u2013 You Can Join Too\">high error rate<\/a> that is concerning. The searches were conducted by FBI personnel with authority under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which allows U.S. authorities to gather information on U.S. citizens suspected of being involved with possible spies or terrorists.<\/p>\n<h3>Increased Searches in 2021<\/h3>\n<p>U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-will-now-allow-immigration-officers-to-decide-asylum-cases\/\" title=\"Biden Administration Will Now Allow Immigration Officers To Decide Asylum Cases\">intelligence officials reported<\/a> that the FBI conducted 3.39 million searches in 2021, which is up from just 1.2 million in 2020. However, an FBI spokesperson disputed that searches were done in error, pointing to a previous report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The queries were not in error<\/li>\n<li>They were compliant with the query standard<\/li>\n<li>They were designed to identify victims of this potential compromise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sharon Bradford Franklin, chair of the U.S. Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board, suggested that Congress should pass new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/over-one-million-secret-fbi-searches-made-in-error-watchdog\/\" title=\"Over One Million Secret FBI Searches Made in Error: Watchdog\">legislation imposing greater safeguards<\/a> into the system to protect Americans. That should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/more-than-1-million-secret-fbi-searches-made-in-error-watchdog\/\" title=\"More Than 1 Million Secret FBI Searches Made in Error: Watchdog\">include requiring probable<\/a> cause or court review for each query of an American. Horowitz agreed that Congress has the authority to do that, but adding new requirements could increase the FBI\u2019s workload.<\/p>\n<h3>Rep. Jim Jordan&#8217;s Solution<\/h3>\n<p>Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) indicated support for adding new requirements, stating that the solution is simple.
