Reps. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) and Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) joined a protest organized by Climate Defiance, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/expelled-tennessee-state-lawmakers-take-part-in-climate-change-protest-in-dc\/\" title=\"Expelled Tennessee State Lawmakers Take Part in Climate Change Protest in DC\">youth-led climate protest group<\/a>. The protest\u2019s organizer accused President Joe Biden of committing \u201cecocide\u201d due to his approval of oil projects, including the 30-year Willow oil field development project in Alaska, which will produce as much as 180,000 barrels of oil a day.<\/p>\n<h3>Protesters Demand End to Fossil Fuel<\/h3>\n<p>The banners and placards held by protesters read \u201cBiden: End Fossil Fuel.\u201d The group claimed that ecocide is \u201cdevastation and destruction of the environment to the detriment of life,\u201d according to the Vienna-based independent organization the European Law Institute.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cWe Are in a State of Emergency\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cShow me what democracy looks like,\u201d Jones said through a megaphone while amongst a group of protesters, according to a Twitter video shared by the group. Jones added, \u201cWe are in a state of emergency in this nation. We are fighting fascism. We\u2019re fighting a system that is trying to put the profits of the gun industry, the profits of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-climate-agenda-wont-replace-jobs-it-seeks-to-kill-separate-ap-wapo-fact-checks-suggest\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Climate Agenda Won\u2019t Replace Jobs It Seeks To Kill, Separate AP, WaPo Fact-Checks Suggest\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-knows-he-messed-up-on-fracking-at-debate-and-is-now-doing-damage-control-the-daily-wire\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Knows He Messed Up On Fracking At Debate And Is Now Doing Damage Control | The Daily Wire\">fossil fuel<\/a> industry<\/a>, the profits of for-profit health care over the lives of our people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In another Twitter video shared by the group, Pearson told the crowd that he was glad to be in this movement. \u201cWe can never lose in this fight for justice,\u201d Pearson said through a megaphone. \u201cWe must remain steadfast, unmovable, and unchangeable in our belief that we can have a clean planet.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Protesters Claim Success<\/h3>\n<p>The group claimed on Twitter that their protest was a success, for it had successfully blocked a government SUV from entering the Washington Hilton, the hotel where the annual dinner was held. Biden gave a speech at the dinner, during which he spoke about how a free press is a pillar of any free society.<\/p>\n<h3>The \u201cTennessee Three\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>On March 30, Jones, Pearson, and fellow Rep. Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville), now collectively known as the \u201cTennessee Three,\u201d broke decorum rules by leading hundreds of protesters to the well of the House. Biden later invited the three to the White House.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>The protest by Climate Defiance and the participation of the Tennessee House Democrats highlight the growing concern over climate change and the need for action.
