Previously, only family members or law enforcement could petition the court to temporarily seize someone\u2019s firearms. With the new law, healthcare providers, district attorneys, and teachers can also petition the court to take someone\u2019s firearms away.<\/p>\n<h3>Increased Age to Purchase Firearms<\/h3>\n<p>Another new law increases the age to purchase a firearm in the state to 21. This law is aimed at reducing gun violence among young adults.<\/p>\n<h3>Three-Day Waiting Period<\/h3>\n<p>There is now a three<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-doctor-who-conned-women-into-hysterectomies-sterilizations-for-insurance-money-gets-60-years-in-prison\/\" title=\"Virginia Doctor Who Conned Women Into Hysterectomies, Sterilizations For Insurance Money Gets 60 Years In Prison\">-day waiting period<\/a> after a firearm is purchased before it can be taken home. This is a significant change that could have far-reaching consequences for gun manufacturers and sellers.<\/p>\n<p>Gun rights groups have already filed lawsuits to reverse the increase in buying age and the three-day waiting period.
