Republican Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/greg-gianforte\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg Gianforte<\/a> signed Senate Bill 99, known as the \u201cYouth Health Protection Act,\u201d into law on Friday. The bill prohibits surgeries like elective double mastectomies on girls who identify as boys and also prohibits puberty blockers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/very-complicated-dr-rachel-levine-dodges-sen-pauls-issue-about-sex-adjustments-for-children\/\" title=\"\u2018Very Complicated\u2019: Dr. Rachel Levine Dodges Sen. Paul\u2019s Issue About Sex Adjustments For Children\">cross-sex hormones<\/a> for children.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Gianforte Stands Up for Montana\u2019s Children<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHe [Gianforte] is committed to protecting Montana\u2019s children from invasive medical treatments that can permanently alter their healthy, developing bodies,\u201d said Kaitlin Price, a spokeswoman for Gianforte, in an email to The New York Times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailymontanan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Senate-Bill-99-Amendatory-Veto-Letter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to Montana Republican Senate and House leaders, Gianforte explained why he supported the bill. He said that the bill \u201cfocuses on so<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/montana-governor-signs-youth-health-protection-act-bans-trans-procedures-for-kids\/\" title=\"Montana Governor Signs \u2018Youth Health Protection Act,\u2019 Bans Trans Procedures For Kids\">-called gender-affirming medical care<\/a> for children. \u2018Gender affirming care\u2019 for children is Orwellian Newspeak, a seemingly innocuous, even solicitous phrase that masks its true nature of permanent, invasive, life-altering medical and surgical procedures, performed on children whose young minds and bodies are still developing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Opposition to the Bill<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bill, which was supported by Republicans, was widely opposed by Democrats. \u201cI\u2019m very disappointed it\u2019s becoming law,\u201d said House Democrat leader Kim Abbott. \u201cIt is very damaging policy.
