The <a href=\"https:\/\/d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net\/CIK-0000055067\/50efe15c-ba6d-41bb-851f-cb722470d7b9.pdf#page=74\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">text<\/a> of the proposal noted that the Kellogg Company has \u201callocated significant resources and attention towards implementing social justice into workplace practices\u201d through commitments to the environmental, social, and corporate governance movement, also known as <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/esg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESG<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Return to Merit-Based Hiring and Promotion Decisions<\/h3>\n<p>The shareholder proposal, which called for a \u201creturn to merits,\u201d noted that firms across a number of industries, from Verizon and Pfizer to American Express and CVS, have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bokhari-silicon-valley-found-kyle-rittenhouse-guilty-long-before-his-trial\/\" title=\"Bokhari: Silicon Valley Found Kyle Rittenhouse Guilty Long Before His Trial\">implemented similar policies<\/a> despite the likelihood of overt discrimination against qualified staff members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross the political spectrum, all agree that employee success should be fostered and that no employees should face discrimination, but there is much disagreement about what nondiscrimination means,\u201d the proposal said. \u201cIn practice, what \u2018equity\u2019 really means is the distribution of pay and authority on the basis of race, sex, orientation and ethnic categories rather than by merit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Increasing the percentage of females or racial minorities in corporate workforces are indeed objectives often pursued by firms with DEI initiatives or dedication to the ESG movement.
