The analyst initially predicted that semaglutide treatments could constitute a $100 billion market, but updated her estimate this week.<\/p>\n<h3>A Growing Problem<\/h3>\n<p>Some 650 million adults, 340 million adolescents, and 40 million children across the world are clinically obese, according to data from the World Health Organization. Half of the global population is forecasted to be either overweight or obese by 2035, creating a sizable opportunity for pharmaceutical companies if current perceptions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alexei-navalny-goes-on-hunger-strike-russian-prison-service-responds\/\" title=\"Alexei Navalny Goes On Hunger Strike, Russian Prison Service Responds\">weight loss<\/a> treatments were to shift.<\/p>\n<h3>The Future of Obesity Treatment<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cObesity has been viewed and treated mainly as a symptom of lifestyle choices. But with a greater understanding of obesity\u2019s root causes, it is now classified medically as a chronic disease. This shift has helped spur new research into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">developing treatments<\/a>, including a range of next-generation medications to manage weight, thereby preventing the illnesses that obesity causes,\u201d says Morgan Stanley Managing Director Mark Purcell.<\/p>\n<h3>A Burden for Public Health Insurance Programs<\/h3>\n<p>An increased reliance on obesity drugs among overweight Americans could create significant burdens for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-introduce-bill-to-end-covid-public-emergency\/\" title=\"House Republicans Introduce Bill to End COVID Public Emergency\">public health insurance programs<\/a> such as Medicare, which is currently prohibited by law from covering prescriptions for weight loss, but could soon be \u201ccompelled to cover antiobesity medications,\u201d according to a perspective piece in the New England Journal of Medicine.<\/p>\n<h3>Continued Use is Key<\/h3>\n<p>Other research has indicated that patients must continue taking semaglutide treatments in order to avoid regaining weight.
