Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, sent the subpoenas on April 28. All three have responded inadequately to requests to provide documents, including communications between their respective entities and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platforms<\/a>, Jordan said in letters accompanying the subpoenas. CISA and GEC have not responded at all to the requests, while the CDC has not provided any of the requested documents, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFreedom of speech is one of the most important rights we have in this country,\u201d Jordan told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/biden-agencies-subpoenaed-judiciary-gop-social-media-censorship\">Washington Examiner<\/a>. \u201cThe collusion between our federal government and Big Tech undermines First Amendment principles and should be investigated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CDC and GEC did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, CISA\u2019s parent agency, said that the department \u201cdoes not censor speech and does not request that content be taken down by social media companies.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Collusion with Big Tech<\/h2>\n<p>Jordan is working with the Committee\u2019s Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-subpoena-head-of-cdc-over-big-tech-censorship-coordination\/\" title=\"Republicans Subpoena Head of CDC Over Big Tech Censorship Coordination\">probe issues \u201crelated<\/a> to the violation of the civil liberties of citizens of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Documents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/infographic-key-revelations-of-the-twitter-files_4986669.html\">brought to light<\/a> by reporters who were given access to Twitter\u2019s internal files and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/over-50-biden-administration-employees-12-us-agencies-involved-in-social-media-censorship-push-documents_4704349.html\">produced in a lawsuit<\/a> filed by several states against the federal government have shown officials were regularly in contact with Twitter and other Big Tech companies on alleged mis- and disinformation, including making requests to crack down on specific users.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC, for example, sent specific posts to Twitter and Facebook, while also adjudicating claims about COVID-19. While doing so, the CDC offered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/cdc-gave-facebook-misinformation-about-covid-19-vaccines-emails-show_4711892.html\">false information<\/a> about vaccine effectiveness.<\/p>\n<p>CISA official Brian Scully, meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/national-security-officials-worked-to-flag-election-misinformation-for-social-media-companies-deposition_4996241.html\">said in a deposition<\/a> that officials would route concerning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media posts<\/a> to Big Tech, with an understanding that the companies would apply their own censorship policies.<\/p>\n<p>The collusion between the federal government and Big Tech is a serious threat to our First Amendment rights.
