Governor Jay Inslee, a Democrat, claimed in his <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/wagovernor\/inslee-signs-laws-to-protect-reproductive-health-and-gender-affirming-care-db8917021cd7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog<\/a> that these procedures constituted freedom.<\/p>\n<h3>The Right to Choose is a Matter of Freedom<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThe right of choice is an issue of freedom,\u201d stated Inslee. \u201cHealth care must remain the providence [sic] of individual Washingtonians. These laws will keep the tentacles of oppressive and overreaching states out of Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the bills, <a href=\"https:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/billsummary?BillNumber=5768&#038;Year=2023&#038;Initiative=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SB 5768<\/a> from Democratic Senate President Pro Tempore Karen Keiser, authorized the Washington Department of Corrections to distribute a three-year supply, 30,000 doses, of mifepristone \u2014 the abortion drug that the governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.wa.gov\/news-media\/inslee-announces-unprecedented-state-purchase-three-year-supply-mifepristone%23:~:text=Jay%2520Inslee%2520today%2520announced%2520that,purchase%2520the%2520medication%2520last%2520month.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">purchased<\/a> last month. Inslee managed to secure the abortion drug three days before the District Court for the Northern District of Texas ordered the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to revoke authorization of the drug.<\/p>\n<h3>Controversy Surrounding the Safety of Mifepristone<\/h3>\n<p>Upon Senate passage of the bill earlier this month, Keiser touted mifepristone\u2019s safety and efficacy. However, concerns continue to exist over the safety of the drug. 22 attorneys general <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/22-attorneys-general-urge-fda-to-reverse-abortion-pill-decision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">petitioned<\/a> the FDA in a letter earlier this year to reverse its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/washington-state-passes-five-laws-expanding-access-and-protections-for-abortions-gender-transitions\/\" title=\"Washington State Passes Five Laws Expanding Access And Protections For Abortions, Gender Transitions\">decision allowing retail pharmacies<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/22-attorneys-general-urge-fda-to-reverse-abortion-pill-decision\/\" title=\"22 Attorneys General Urge FDA To Reverse Abortion Pill Decision\">dispense abortion pills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: The Senate just passed <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SB5768?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SB5768<\/a> to guarantee uninterrupted access to mifepristone, used in nearly 60% of abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot allow an unelected judge to deny Washingtonians a safe, effective medication for their reproductive choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Sen.
