This support has given Ukraine the equipment and munitions it needs to launch its spring offensive against Russia, according to General Christopher Cavoli, the commander of United States forces in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>General Cavoli stated that over 98% of the combat vehicles are already in Ukraine, and he is confident that they have delivered the necessary mat\u00e9riel. The 54-nation Ukraine Defense Contact Group has been \u201cvery generous\u201d in responding to Kyiv\u2019s calls for assistance in fighting off Russia\u2019s invasion, he said, \u201cespecially with regard to tanks and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taliban-holds-parade-for-islamic-emirate-army-with-captured-american-gear\/\" title=\"Taliban Holds Parade for \u2018Islamic Emirate Army\u2019 with Captured American Gear\">armored fighting vehicles<\/a>. And we have been shipping it into the country. The Ukrainians are in a good position.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Providing Ukraine with the Capabilities it Needs<\/h3>\n<p>House Armed Forces Committee Chair Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) questioned whether the Biden administration has provided Ukraine with everything it needs to defeat Russia decisively to avoid a lengthy, costly stalemate. Rogers said the administration should reconsider its reluctance to provide Ukraine with F-16s and cluster artillery munitions.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Celeste Wallander stated that fighter aircraft ranked \u201cabout eighth\u201d among Ukraine\u2019s military needs. She said Poland and Slovakia have provided MiG-29s, \u201clegacy Soviet aircraft\u201d Ukrainians are familiar with. \u201cThey know how to use them; they know how to maintain them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201chighest priority capabilities\u201d requested by Ukraine are in \u201cair defense, artillery, and armor,\u201d Wallander said.<\/p>\n<p>Rogers said the United States has a stockpile of 3 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wish-i-could-share-more-intelligence-committees-marco-rubio-warns-something-is-off-with-putin\/\" title=\"\u2018Wish I Could Share More\u2019: Intelligence Committee\u2019s Marco Rubio Warns \u2018Something Is Off With Putin\u2019\">cluster bombs<\/a> that can be fired from the 155 Howitzers provided to Ukraine and questioned why the Biden administration will not send any there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRussia is using these munitions right now against the Ukrainians,\u201d he said to Cavoli. \u201cCan you please explain the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-assisting-ukraine-on-its-counteroffensive-plans\/\" title=\"U.S. Assisting Ukraine On Its Counteroffensive Plans\">battlefield military utility<\/a> that giving Ukraine the [cluster\u00a0 munitions] that we have would have in particular in places like Bakhmut?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cavoli explained the cluster bombs are banned by 123 nations and how they work as \u201cdual purpose\u201d munitions against \u201cmixed targets of personnel and equipment, especially when those targets are gathered into dense formations.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Some Allies Are Better Than Others<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5193767\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/04\/14\/id5193767-GettyImages-1250817458.jpg\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a> Chinese leader Xi Jinping (L) shakes hands with his French President Emmanuel Macron at the official welcoming ceremony in Beijing on April 6, 2023.
