Republican senators Ron Johnson and Charles Grassley have written a letter to the Inspector General of the Department of Justice (DOJ) asking for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-wants-doj-watchdog-to-produce-unredacted-records-related-to-trump-russia-election-ties\/\" title=\"GOP Wants DOJ Watchdog to Produce Unredacted Records Related to Trump\u2013Russia Election Ties\">uncensored records related<\/a> to the agency\u2019s review of the FBI probe into alleged Trump\u2013Russia election links. This is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-is-media-hiding-that-illinois-has-more-covid-cases-than-florida\/\" title=\"Why Is Media Hiding That Illinois Has More COVID Cases Than Florida?\">big news<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>The senators are concerned about the 460 pages of \u201cheavily redacted records\u201d that the nonprofit Citizens United recently obtained in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The DOJ\u2019s Office of Inspector General (OIG) delivered these records to Citizens United in response to the nonprofit\u2019s request for interview transcripts linked to the department\u2019s review of the FBI\u2019s Crossfire Hurricane investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Crossfire Hurricane was the code name for an FBI probe that began in 2016 that looked into whether Donald Trump\u2019s campaign coordinated with Russia to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michigan-attorney-general-police-to-probe-people-who-made-election-fraud-claims\/\" title=\"Michigan Attorney General, Police to Probe People Who Made Election Fraud Claims\">influence election results<\/a>. The DOJ OIG report of the review was titled \u201cReview of Four FISA Applications and Other Aspects of the FBI\u2019s Crossfire Hurricane Investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>What the Senators Want<\/h3>\n<p>The senators specifically highlighted four transcribed interviews and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawmakers-probe-state-dept-decision-to-scuttle-plan-for-crisis-response-bureau-months-before-afghan-catastrophe\/\" title=\"Lawmakers Probe State Dept Decision to Scuttle Plan for Crisis Response Bureau Months Before Afghan Catastrophe\">notes related<\/a> to four individuals\u2014Kathleen Kavalec, Lisa Page, Nellie Ohr, and Loretta Lynch\u2014who played a key role in DOJ OIG\u2019s investigation. They also asked the DOJ to reveal how many of the 170 interviews it conducted with 100 witnesses were transcribed. In case any of the interviews were not transcribed, the department has to explain the reason and provide a list of such interviews. The letter sought a response from the DOJ no later than May 9.<\/p>\n<h3>FBI Pursuit of Trump<\/h3>\n<p>In the letter, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/egregious-abuse-11-gop-senators-demand-google-stop-censoring-ads-for-abortion-pill-reversal-hotline\/\" title=\"\u2018Egregious Abuse\u2019: 11 GOP Senators Demand Google Stop Censoring Ads For Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline\">senators point<\/a> out that they have been examining the FBI\u2019s Crossfire Hurricane investigation as well as the OIG\u2019s report on the matter \u201cfor years.\u201d On Dec. 18, 2019, Johnson, who is the chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, held a hearing to discuss the OIG\u2019s findings.<\/p>\n<p>The OIG\u2019s report contained a statement from Bill Priestap, an FBI official, that the FBI \u201cdidn\u2019t have any indication whatsoever\u201d of Russian influence on the report, which is known as the Steele dossier.
