Newsom announces B plan to reopen schools by spring\">teachers union<\/a> told Congress on Wednesday that the Biden transition team solicited <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-spike-in-florida-coronavirus-cases-despite-no-mask-mandate\/\" title=\"No Spike in Florida Coronavirus Cases Despite No Mask Mandate\">advice<\/a> on school closures during the COVID pandemic, preceding a sweeping Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance that critics have faulted for keeping children out of classrooms for too long.<\/p>\n<h3>Union Boss Admits to Conversations with Biden Transition Team<\/h3>\n<p>During a hearing of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten admitted that the Biden transition team reached out to her union for advice. Further questioning led Weingarten to say she could not remember exactly when conversations with the CDC began. But ultimately, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: 'Pipeline' to Obama Admin Seen as 'Currency'\">union boss<\/a> said that she recalled the CDC setting up a conference call on January 29, 2021, which would be a little more than a week after President Joe Biden\u2019s inauguration.<\/p>\n<h3>Intense Focus on CDC<\/h3>\n<p>Intense focus on the CDC during the hearing followed the New York Post reporting that records indicated the AFT and another teachers union, the National Education Association, were in communication with the health agency and the White House.
