The Tennessee Democratic Party (TNDP) Executive Committee has even passed a resolution &#8220;demanding the resignation&#8221; of Sexton. This move comes after the Democrat party in Sexton&#8217;s district called for his resignation following the expulsion of two black Democrats from the House for violating decorum rules.<\/p>\n<h2>Local Parties Call for Resignation<\/h2>\n<p>The Democrat parties in Cumberland County where Sexton lives and Putnam County, which is part of the district he represents, called on Sexton to resign on April 14. They did so following a report from the website &#8220;Popular Information&#8221; which claimed investigative findings showed &#8220;Sexton lives in Nashville rather than in Crossville.&#8221; However, property records show that Sexton owns a home in Crossville (Cumberland County) and Sexton has since denied spending more time in Nashville than Crossville.<\/p>\n<p>The TNDP is urging the Tennessee Republican Party and Governor Bill Lee to join their call for Speaker Sexton to resign in order to restore public trust in the state government. &#8220;Sexton represents a rural area with different needs and issues than metro Nashville, especially in healthcare and education,&#8221; said TNDP Executive Committeewoman Anne Ferrell Quillen. &#8220;His decisions negatively impact rural Tennessee and District 25, but because he lives in Nashville, they don&#8217;t affect him or his family.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Join the TNDP in their call for accountability and transparency in state government.
